Less than 30 days till Labor Day so have to raise prices:

8-4-2014

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/ohio-gas-prices-higher-start-160908000.html

Ohio gas prices higher to start work week

The average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.47 in Monday's survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That's a dime higher than a week ago.

Despite the spike in Ohio numbers, analysts say prices should stay lower during August as long as refinery production remains strong and oil prices don't rise due to unexpected issues.

You cherry picked that article by omitting this part:

And that price is "...still 12 cents lower than this time last month."

It's also 12 cents lower than it was a year ago at this time and it's lower than all but 10 days since February. And the US average is a couple of cents lower than it was a week ago, 17 cents lower than it was a month ago and 13 cents lower than it was a year ago. Your own volatile Indianapolis prices are down 25 cents from a month ago and down 25 cents from the same time last year. Chicago prices are within a couple of cents of their lowest prices since February and are down almost 30 cents from the price at this same time last year.

You're really reaching.

I own no oil company stock nor do I or anyone in my family work in the oil industry or for any oil company, but I'm sure that won't deter you from making your erroneous attempted (but failed) insults since you are the only one here who considers "Oil Thug'' or "Oil Thug supporter" to be pejorative labels.

So why do you support them if you're not gaining anything personally or family?

Doesn't make any sense.

The Thugs are purposely slowing down Refining to crank up the price, huge surprise I know

Gasoline Rebounds and Crude Slips as Refineries Cut Rates

Gasoline gained and crude oil slipped to a six-month low as refineries slowed their operations, pushing gasoline inventories down by the most in four months.

The motor fuel’s rally widened the profit refineries make from processing a barrel of crude into the fuel.

Plants cut their operating rate by the most since June, the Energy Information Administration said.

Why is it the refineries responsibility/obligation to oversupply the market?

Got the proverbial 30 cent jump today, now pushing $4 once again.

Still a month out from Labor Day so obviously it will be way over $4, will they push for $5 once again or beyond.

They own us so they can do whatever they want.

Just like do every year in preparation to shifting from summer fuel blends to winter fuel blends.

As for your 30 cent jump, wholesale gas prices are holding steady so there absolutely no reason for a jump and looking at the gas prices there are none anywhere close to $4/gal as you claim.

http://www.indygasprices.com/

Futures are showing wholesale gas prices will drop once winter blends are being sold in October.

Regular was 2.99 (3.24 for Premium 93) with Sam's card last night, finally back below $3 again.

Didn't Dave guarantee that by August gas would be over $5 /gal as the nat'l avg? Doesn't that mean this absurd thread gets locked?

$5?!? Why, we're on our way to $6 this year!

Prophet Dave has foretold it!

Which year? He has been making this claim for years. It may even be a decade now.

Of course the Refineries are breaking down, right on cue as usual.

Refinery Breakdowns Boost Gasoline as Labor Day Nears

Refinery breakdowns from Kansas to Texas are giving gasoline a boost, spurring speculators to increase bullish bets for the first time in six weeks as the Labor Day holiday approaches.

Gasoline production was 9.52 million barrels a day, the most for this time of year since since EIA began weekly data in 1982.

Demand averaged 9.02 million barrels a day in the four weeks ended Aug. 8, the lowest seasonal level since 2012

Inventories rose to 218.2 million barrels as of July 25, the most since March.

“Stocks are ample, output is rising and demand will see structural decline for years.” analysts at Bank of America Corp. including Francisco Blanch, the bank’s head of commodities research in New York, said in a report Aug. 12.

Global refining capacity rose to a record 94.9 million barrels a day by the end of 2013, according to BP Plc’s Statistical Review of World Energy. U.S. capacity reached a record 17.9 million this year, according to the EIA.
More Capacity

“Too many refiners and too little demand, and that’s the problem,” Robert Campbell, the New York-based head of oil products research at Energy Aspects Ltd., a London-based research firm, said by phone Aug. 14. “Refining capacity worldwide continues to grow rapidly relative to demand.”

Was happy to see that my local station dropped their prices again ... to $3.15 per gallon. If the price holds I will be filling up this weekend at $2.36 per gallon (I get a 25% discount with a certain gas card)!

$2.99/gal-reg in Anderson, SC yesterday. Of course, still wish I was in Indiana with the $2.79/gal for reg. in Crawfordsville.

According to gasbuddy, the average price in Indianapolis rose 18 cents on that (8/7-8/8) day and since then has done nothing but steadily drop. It is now a bit below what it was when that was posted. As close as it came to $4 was $3.52. Indianapolis gas is today, on average, the same as it was yesterday and 15 cents less than it was a week ago and 19 cents less than it was a month ago and 17 cents less than it was a year ago. It is also about 10 cents less than the national average. The national average is down 3 cents from a week ago, down 13 cents from a month ago and down 10 cents from a year ago.

But there is still time left until Labor Day so that $4 or $5 gas COULD happen in Indianapolis. Personally I'm not going to bet on that.
