Why do you say that? They didn't redesign the interior from scratch which is the car's biggest weakness IMHO.

First introduced in 1967, the original Z/28 featured no automatic transmission or air conditioning. It was a track-ready machine and it held those attributes to heart. Unlike the ’67 Z/28, the 2014 version does not intend to compete in a specific race series, but it still holds true to the original’s core beliefs.

Had nothing to do with the interior which I am not that impressed with either... Also back in 1967 the interior was not all that also... My real preference for an interior was the second gen 1970-73 cars... The shark nose to me was better looking too... Just my pref...

I like the look of this Camaro but cannot stand the interior. Go retro on the outside but give us a decent and modern interior. That gauge pod just looks ridiculous and the buttons on the center console don't look much better.

When I was in high school I went and test drove a used 1971 Firebird that was in pristine condition. It was silver with black interior, I think they were asking $3k for it at the time. Man, what I wouldn't give to have that car today.

The good old days - late 70's and early 80's

I paid $3500 for the black, number matched, original 69 Z28, $3200 for the blue, number matched, original 69 Z28 (had original paint too) and $800 for the 68 RS.

That's odd, because in the pics, I can clearly see A/C controls.

Might be an actual A/C delete option, where you have to ask them to NOT put it in the car.

Remember, back in the 80's, when you could do a radio delete, and actually get like a $30 credit? Really popular on fleet vehicles, especially any the government bought. After a while, the car makers stopped offering it, though.

Probably when they started integrating HVAC controls.

The next gen can't come soon enough.

Wonder if it will use the new platform that was developed for the Cadillac ATS?

Good good...Well, if I ever get 50k somehow, then I would consider.

Will it handle better than a GT500?

pop mechanics ( i know not exactly car mag) had the GT500 and the ZR1 (not the new Z28) to the track and ran um both the the ZR1 was better in Slaloms. The gt500 was better top end striaght line(barely).. they swapped drivers aback and forth and made the runs several times.. (should be able to goggle it as im not scanning the mag in) so if the Z28 is 3 seconds faster then the ZR-1. yes its better handling and weight reduction should put it past the GT500 on speed too. wash i would say.. you like mustangs, you buy um, you like camaros, you buy um.. Personally have owned a 68, 71, 79, 84 and a 95 camaro.. all where fine except the doors.. they wear out with that huge length ( the newer the worse it seems).. have had a 65, 70, and 94 mustang.. I'm a chevy guy.. And prefer um.. but wont say much bad about the mustangs (except the 65 which had a 6.. and steering wheel that was bigger then the seat)..

I think you meant ZL1.

There was really little difference between the 2, except driver preferences, I'd say.

Yeah, pretty big difference between a ZL1 and ZR1.

yes sorry.. I don't keep much up on the new stuff. own a vette with the ZR1.. (older slow vette) and that sticks in my head.. I did read the very small and limited story in Pop Mechanics on the new Camaro and Mustang.. could tell they didn't want to take sides.. Nor do I..

There are no slow ZR1 or ZR-1 Corvettes as far as I know.

mine is a 90, and sorry again.. in forums nowadays us old guys who like the american metal seem to get hounded by the masses talking about WRX and Vtechs and how much Horsepower and speed they can be built too with money (which is true).. I quit saying with a few bucks i can get more speed and Horsepower too (or that I am happy with its current speed).. and just resigned myself to enjoying my car and never saying its fast :) on any forums.

always something faster..
