Things looking bad for NBC. They've already cancelled several of their first year programs, a couple more are defacto cancelled, and if purely going by ratings the entirety of the freshman class likely to be dumped. This is on top of 2 older seried being retired which may let the best of the meh live another year depending on their pilot results for the new stuff.

sounds like NBC

Mom, Mike & Molly, 2 Broke Girls, and 12 monkeys renewed.

On he Big Screen, Frozen also renewed

😉

Somewhat surprised that 12 Monkeys got a renewal, but I'm not since it's Sci-Fi. I kind of like it... Show's grown on me.

Sleepy Hollow gets an 18 episode renewal.

Very surprised. No clue where the show's headed now.

A surprise breakout last season, Sleepy Hollow had struggled a bit in Season 2, both creatively and ratings-wise. “We want to get back to something that feels a little bit more episodic in nature, it has become overly serialized,” Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden acknowledged at TCA in January. “We are trying to return the fun to it a little bit.”

Since it's on fox, part of the shortened length may be to give plenty of room for all the sport stuff that usually overruns fall evening programming.

I usually prefer when shows keep to an episodic format. Sure, it may not be nearly as compelling over time or make you really want to see the next episode, but an episode being self-contained makes each one feel really satisfying. That's why I really prefer Fringe's first season over all of the others as each one was just weird science event of the week with a light bit of an overarching story. Perhaps shows could try using reoccurring characters (both good and bad) more often to try to alleviate from feeling too different each episode?

I also like the meta episodes in shows like Supernatural. The normal episodes can be a bit of a slog, but when the show is being a bit self-aware, it usually has some great comedy.

I like how X-Files did it. Episodic, but with an overarching story which popped up throughout and even had dedicated episodes focused entirely on that overarching story. Best of both worlds and they did it very effectively.

With more and more content available, I find I must choose more carefully. I have Amazon Prime, Comcast Digital and Play-On software. I dropped shows for first time in my life. (Watched According to Jim & Ugly Betty to the final kick!)

Allot of USA stuff
Sleepy Hollow
Allegiance
Castle

Things that I feel have been there done that or have nothing else to say. (2 1/2 Men, 2 Broke girls......)

X-files has been officially un-cancelled. Current plan is a 6 episode "event". Original two lead actors will reprise their roles.

Unsure if this is a test balloon to just restart the series as it was, or if this will be a way to reintroduce the series then have it continue with other actors.

Watched the CSI cyber episodes so far over the weeked.

Is it me or was there a good bit a meh. At this point would vastly prefer Vegas continue instead of Cyber.

Is Fox trying to kill Gotham?

only one episode in MArch.
only one in April.
and one (the season finale) in May.

That show's been like 15 years now. Time to end it. I stopped watching more than 5 years ago -- saw every episode multiple times up until like season 7 or 8.

Still no word on Forever.

The Returned on A&E isn't bad, just started a few weeks ago. It's, apparently, a shot for shot remake of the original French version. I tried watching that one, but je ne parle pas francais bien et je n'ai pas aime de lire les sous-titres. .

Law and Order SVU has aged much better than CSI for some reason.

HBO cancels Looking. A new series finale episode will be filmed.

For those reading my commentary, CSI Cyber rankings continue a steady trend towards one and done.

With the recent firing of Jeremy Clarkson over his "fracas" (how is that the official term for it?), it looks like Top Gear is officially over after 22 seasons. There's plenty of speculation that the three hosts will reunite in a similar format on a service like Netflix, but Top Gear as it's existed for the past decade and change is done.

Patricia Arquette has very little range as an actress. And she was seriously, even laughably miscast as the "take charge" lead in a police procedural. Absent her familial ties, she never would have made it in Hollywood, imho.
