How can Lexus make a $50,000 sedan with a better interior than a car that costs 2.5x more?

the nicest leather i've felt in any car was in the king ranch ford truck. easily better than any lexus, merc, bmw, etc. i saw that same day. it's the only leather i've ever seen in any car that i'd want to use in real furniture.

😀 That just makes it all the more laughable that a $130,000 Corvette has cheap fake leather on the interior.

But then you'd be getting a Ford. You'd be better off to have a 25 year old wooden bar stool in a Chevy. 😛

Nope, many reviews hate the Corvette seats.

You can't please everyone. I like firm while many life soft. The seats in my C3 and my wifes old C5 I think are plenty soft but many think they were/are to stiff.

They hate the seats when driving the car on the track. Of all the cars I've taken road trips in, my wife and I agree the Corvette was very comfortable and left us with no pain after 8 hours. I would rate them slightly more comfortable than the Recaros in my car, but less supportive at the track.

It's the same interior as a $45k Corvette which is 8-9 years old to begin with. Significant redesign was not feasible, especially coming out of bankruptcy. Other cars like the Mustang start with $20k interior and move it upstream to the $55k GT500. Yes, it gets better seats, but the dash, console and door panels all remain the same.

For comparison, the "better" interiors on sports cars start at a much higher sticker. Take a Porsche Boxster S or Cayman S which have a $15k premium over a base Corvette. I'm not sure I see the value in paying that premium when the interior is functional for daily driving. Being both a Lotus fan and motorcycle owner, why is interior on a sports car such a big deal to you? I can understand on a luxury car like a Lexus, but the Vette has always focused on performance first.

Why is interior such a big deal? Um, I don't know, because that's where you spend ALL your time while driving? Yes, the Lotus interior is very basic but they do it with a stylish blend of bare aluminum, leather, and plastic (yes, plastic). I can appreciate the minimalist approach to a sports car like the Lotus Elise... besides, it doesn't cost $130,000.

Not sure what being a motorcycle owner has to do with anything. Are you suggesting that owning a motorcycle and bitching about the interior of a $130,000 sports car are mutually exclusive?

because a $55k TRUCK has nice leather?

that's more than a base corvette.

Why does Audi charge so much when they can't get reliability right?
Why does BMW charge so much when they can't make fuel flow reliably to an engine?
Why does, never mind you're just dumb.

Isn't just me. Read the article.

I've driven a few Vettes over the years and they were always underwhelming to downright poorly made in the interior.

read as 'between 1980 and 2000 i drove 3 corvettes whose interiors sucked terribly, but i never drove them because i was too busy looking and touching and rubbing the center stack.'

Wow, am I really that polarizing a figure here? I'm curious why your dick is so hard over what I think. I think the interior of the Corvette sucks. I would love to explain it further to you but you won't get it because... well, see the bolded part of your post for the reason.

i don't want to get in to a dick measuring contest either, don't want to have to go buy micrometer for you.

The corvette, for a $50k base price car, has an absolutely 'acceptable' interior.
The corvette, for a $128k super car, has an absolutely 'eh' interior.

All of this is forgotten when you hit the fun pedal.

no lexus can make you forget everything when you hit the fun pedal (for less than $275k)

I was just highlighting a few things the writers of the article pointed out that I happen to agree with. If you are really bent about it I recommend you focus your wrath on the writers of Motor Trend... I'd bet far more people are reading it than have read my thoughts here.

please, do show who said something about dicks first.

i'm begging you to in fact, you're like John Kerry and Romney, you say something and then try and say the other person said it first...

ruhroh scooby, someone spoke before they thought and had to try and edit out the call out

I'm sorry, but if midrange cars like the Lexus IS-F and Audi RS5 and competing cars like the 100K GTR have better interiors or at least better materials. You really can't use cost as an excuse.

We all know German cars are overpriced, but real leather and proper seats for the corvette are not that expensive. Comfy but functional Seats are what you find in the GTR, 911 and the R8 and the viper is as tested is close to the price of the latter 2.

Also, those aren't the same seats used in the 458 and F12.
