welp, I did it--Finally bought Oblivion and guess I will try it out.

I enjoyed Oblivion. But first I had to get the video settings right so I could read the signs on the town buildings and stores.

Once I knew where I could go to buy stuff, and get a room to sleep, everything was great.

now off to scour Nexus to get some crazy texture packs and bug fixes, I suppose.
any say, top 5-ish recs on mods? 🙂

Nexus Mod Manager
Oblivion Script Extender
Any UI mod that has lots of endorsements.

Those are the things you NEED to get first. Before you even start your first game.

wait, what? how do you see those?

By yesterday's big deals, there is a 'see other specials'... it returns nearly 4,000 results. Too much really to sort through; why I add things to my wishlist, in which nearly everything is 50% +.

Those aren't daily deals, that is just everything that is on sale in the store.

Hmm, may grab Brutal Legend at that price. I think I played the demo a while ago and it seemed fun. Anyone played it?

Ugh, Oblivion modding is insane, I think I loaded like a dozen just for recommended stuff that doesn't actually change gameplay. Here's one starting point, but I think I had to spend hours researching that stuff!

yeah, thanks for that--particular the intro.

I of course started with Nexus and NMM--but it seems most of these mods require Oblivion Mod Manager, which seems to be its own thing apart from NMM? Because, well, my texture packs (I think I have tried Quarst?) and character model packs aren't working through NMM, even though it "installs" through them (well, Quarst doesn't). I assume OMM was created well before NMM was established, as NMM is still in "beta," and the modding community for Oblivion died out before Nexus started to establish it.

Anyway, the textures actually seem OK--I'm guessing the deluxe edition comes with some tweaks (at least, dungeon textures--first jump into open world looks kinda bleh).

I'm definitely going for DarfieldUI, but it does have the funky install protocol. I'm too used to NMM now and would rather not have to think about these things anymore. I'm also not sure if I got OSE working properly. Anyway, it seems like a bit more work than what one is used to with Skyrim, and everything working directly through NMM.

So far I've picked up:
Age of Empires II HD + Exp - $7.50 - I'm concerned I may regret this one as it was my least favorite of the real AOE games, back in the day. (I don't consider AOE: Online a real AOE game)

You Don't Know Jack Classic Pack - $5 - I've always loved these games but my original CD for volume one broke in half a few years ago. This pack includes a bunch I've never had.

Pinball FX2 Star Wars: Balance of the Force Pack - $2.50 - Not a big Star Wars fan but I like pinball and figured I may as well pick up this pack since it's 75% off already.

I'm thinking of picking up DuckTales Remastered when Amazon has it for $5.99 in a couple days, which is the same price as the Steam flash sale. Amazon also throws in a promo credit which might be useful.

Sadly, the one thing I really wanted to be on sale is not. I was hoping the Pinball Arcade season passes would be on sale but they're not. The company (FarSight) is actually doing a good job of pissing off their fans by trying to rewrite history in an attempt to explain their recent price increase.

I played it and beat it on Xbox 360. It's worth $15-20 easy just for the presentation and Jack Black, if you like him.

Brutal Legend and the OST for $2.49? No-brainer, must buy.
