Damn, the vote made me choose between Hard Reset and Painkiller. That might be the first time I've ever actually been conflicted on a vote. 🙂

I caved and bought Hard Reset .. and.. this has to be one of the most boring games I have EVER played.
What is with the lame, you can't duck/crawl, and it is very linear.

Painkiller was better.

Saints Row 4 is a blast! I actually got it last sale but just now got around to playing it. Love the Sci Fi and not taking itself seriously...and running around like Neo is fun as hell.

Hmm I'm tempted to pick up Mighty Quest for Epic Loot. Steam only lists the one "DLC" pack, but they're all on sale for 50% off. I played it during a short open beta event, and it's fun to play. I just didn't feel like spending money on what will eventually be a free-to-play game. :$

Bought some rocksmith dlc as all the old ones are on sale

Might be good to wait to see if the game itself goes on sale. If that happens, the DLC might match the sale price.

I have three 😵 extra #7 globes -- anyone want to trade? Looking for #1 through #3, #5, or #8 through #10.

I might pick up Dishonored. It's the big game I missed last year. Are the DLC packs worth it or should I stick with just the core game?

I too would like some input on this. The core game of Dishonored has already reached $5 at times, but the GOTY edition I've yet see lower than $14.

Dishonored was my GOTY last year. I enjoyed it a lot. If you play it as a sneaky/stealth game you will get A LOT more enjoyment out of it then if you just go in doing combat at every turn. While the game has a combat system and gives you the tools to defend yourself and get out of situations were you slip up, it should not be played like that, it totally kills the game and makes it very unfulfilling.

There are multiple paths to get to objectives and for the missions you are giving an option to not kill your target and instead letting them in the long term get a much worse punishment, you'll find out about what happens to them as you play the game and find info and such.

Picked up Shift 2 Unleashed when it was 75% because Ive been looking for a decent racing game along the lines of Gran Turismo and Forza. Despite some bad reviews I am enjoying the game quite a bit, the helmet cam is very cool, and the amount of customization is pretty good. In-game AA is pretty weak though, I am going to try disabling it and injecting SMAA via RadeonPro to see if that helps any.

The sales today gave me two revelations:

1. I really like what's out there. Max Payne is another series I might pick up because my dad really liked them and I want to experience them, and $7 for all 3 is a price I won't sweat over if I don't care for them. Also, that both of The Witcher titles are $7.50 combined has me intrigued. That was a series I thought I MIGHT eventually try, but then decided not to, but now the price is getting to me, haha.

2. I've now learned that I want to check Amazon before I buy anything. I was intrigued by Tomb Raider 80% off, because it's only $10. It's another I hear good things about, but didn't really care to look into. At $10, I am on the fence. I went to go check Amazon, and it's actually cheaper there--$8. I started looking around at the other stuff Amazon has, and it's like a second Steam sale all over again.

I started off at this sale thinking that I haven't participated in it before, so I'll maybe go a little crazy and get 5-10 games. I've got 4 after 3 days, and day 4 has me looking at another 6, so it seems like that 10-game limit I was expecting might be out the door in a hurry, haha.

The Witcher 2 is $5 again. It has really high reviews. But I was gifted the first one and haven't even started playing it. Do I allow myself to buy a sequel by just assuming I'll enjoy the first one and this one? 😛

man, La Mulana at 1.49 wtf!?!?!? i bought it on another site a few months back for like $7 and it never went below that on steam until now.

I bought the Red Faction collection when it was 80% off, loaded up the first one and installed the Pure Faction mod so I can do 1080p. Despite the dated graphics, I'm really having fun with it. It just feels quick and snappy, and the destructible environment is neat.

OK, so Christmas present time. If anyone still doesn't have a copy of Torchlight (1) and wants one, PM me an email or Steam ID and I'll send you a free one. First come first served. 🙂

EDIT: Game has been claimed.

If anyone wants to give away their snow globes let me know. I'm trying to get #1, #2, #5, and #10. I've got 12 snow globes of the other numbers...

They're actually very different in terms of gameplay. I bought Witcher 2 and love it so much that I bought Witcher 1 to flesh out the backstory... and was rather disappointed. The combat system is completely different, the missions are far more MMORPG-like, there's a reason Witcher 2 is considered one of the best RPGs of all time and Witcher 1 isn't.

But speaking as someone who went in that order I at no point felt like I was missing anything by playing the 2nd first.

So yeah, if you even mildly enjoy RPGs, snag it.

I wish they'd run this sale from December 25th to January 9th or something. Seeing these games go on sale when I don't yet have Christmas money is driving me insane. I want to buy them.
