Holy shit.
last two games end on boneheaded plays
(okay, I wouldn't really call the throw to 3rd in game 3 boneheaded, but still--mistakes)
watched it again in tonight's broadcast and you can see Craig slide into the bag, pop up and then step to his left where he was obstructed. Although I don't argue Joyce's call, he may have seen it differently if Middlebrooks' legs didn't go up. How much leeway does the runner get in running off the chalk? Not controversial whatsoever. The runner was in the base path and was obstructed from advancing by a player not fielding a ball or making a play. The third base ump made the call as soon as he tripped.
Many managers instruct their catchers to not block the plate. Esp. if he's a valuable hitter such as Molina.Had to kind of LOL@ Molina wanting no part of trying to block the plate with a barreling Big Papi coming down the line..

not to mention that play doesn't happen if Boston isn't unnecessarily holding him on (as McCarver pointed out, he was an "incidental" runner).Crazy mistake, no need for any big lead off first there, your not gonna steal and risk getting thrown out, not with a hitter of the caliber of Beltran at the plate, your hoping for a 2 run poke, Uehara was as fast as a rattlesnake with that throw, awesome!..

I would. You had two outs with Uehera on the mound, no need to make the throw.

The chalk is the foul line; it has nothing to do with the baseline. Baseline is defined by the runner. That's why they can round bases and don't have to run straight to the base, pivot, etc.

He's beyond terrible. Buck isn't much better...It wasn't unnecessary, the Sox were playing the lines / no doubles defense. Not surprisingly, the worst announcer on TV didn't recognize that.
Balk plates winning run in Game 6.Well here we are, best of 3 now what a hard fought and strange series, never i the history has a game ended on an obstruction call and never before had a game ended with a pickoff of a runner for the third out, game 5 tomorrow, stay tuned who knows what will happen??
lackey coming out of the pen might be an issue for game 6There's a lot of heart being shown by guys on both teams. Craig, Beltran playing banged up. Buchholz pitching at less than 100%... Victorino going down. Lackey coming out of the pen.
Props to both teams.
Stoopit post is stoopit.I will say this is the first time in years i have been interested in a series. from the cheating in game one to this! wooo1
