Tons of HP is nice, getting it down to the road 100% of the time is better, though, IMO. Not just on track days, which is a viable option with the 302 LS, but on twisty backroads too. We're still talking about 444bhp, which is just about optimal for that chassis, and with a few relatively small mods can reach 480 (which is perfect).

If you want to make a lot of noise turning your rubber and brakes into smoke, the GT500 is the thing to get. It reigns as the big-engine attention-getter, bar none. However, in terms of power + handling, and practicality, the Boss is, well, boss.
 
I'd love a Mustang but even the base model is $30k now with tax and freight. Could probably get it for $27k. Gone are the days of affordable pony cars.

What? V6 MSRP is $22.2k, after 7.25% sales tax (CA) and a $1000 destination fee that brings it to $24,809.50. Unless you're talking about the GT, which isn't the base model.

That and I'll talking about a GT500, not a normal mustang. What other car in the $60k range goes like it does? Sure, the ZL1 is far more refined, but that's not what I'm interested in at all. I'm more interested in the nutty 662 HP, 0-60 in 3.5s craziness of it all.

I'm still thinking on it though. No IRS (not fixable) + subpar braking (fixable) are really the only drawbacks.

I could spend as much as the difference between my car and this one, and end up with something with no warranty, less driveability, around 600lbs heavier than this, and something that still did not perform quite as well.

But you would get to keep your IRS and double wishbones up front, and have a vehicle that is better on the highway (I assume since it's such a big/heavy Mercedes platform)

The Shelby ain't no light weight either at 3900lb of pork. The Boss on the other hand is petite 3600lbs 🙂.

I really hope they do end up cutting some weight out of these things for the next gen.

It's like you would expect from any high performance car. When the road is smooth, the ride is great. When the road is bumpy, you ask yourself if your car is going to arrive in one piece. I have a 2011 so my shocks are not adjustable (that was a 2012 change, making sport stiffer than mine, and non-sport softer). The GT500 has two modes for track/not track.
 
I've located the one, and then one that's on order and should arrive within a month (I hope, they're cheacking for me). So... We'll see.

I'm leaning more towards it. Why? Because racecar.

Update: I found a dealer with one on the way for arrival in 3 weeks. We came to an accord on pricing and my trade-in value. Assuming I still want the car after driving it, I am getting one.
