Yet you guys seem to be taking my joke as a personal affront?

I actually like the viper. Always been a fan. Though I guess the stereotype i made fun of hit close to home for some of you.

No, you're just trolling on the car forum intentionally. For the most part trolling is kept to a minimum here. Again, OT is the place for you if that's your goal.

1) Traction control and such does not belong on a Viper. Let it continue to separate the wheat from the chaff by means of fiery death.
2) Anything less than a V10 does not belong on a Viper. I would even go so far as to say a high-revving European-style V8 would be an abomination.

agree 1000%

Can't wait to see it. Always loved the Viper more than the Corvette.

Same with me, my friend saw the new viper design in person at Viper owners invitational this year - he said the new design is "Like a Viper GTS from 2015". He said the curves are back, and it has very high tech headlights with LEDs, and 'aston martin looking' taillights. He, and the others who saw it agreed it looks really good.

Also, traction control is the law now, so there is no choice anymore for the Viper.

Because as I said, it came through our shop for rear end damage (guy got it a little too tail happy and caught a tree with the back end.) The boots just added to it though, the pedal layout and placement is just horrible unless you have size 8 feet maybe and doesn't change the fact that they were all offset towards the center of the car.

EDIT: Also keep in mind this was a RT/10, the first generation, that had the huge ducts right by the A pillar. No idea what it's like on the later generations.

Thus proving my earlier point as to why these cars should come with traction control.

If that's true, that's the best news I've heard yet about it. The original GTS is still stunning 15 years later (and remarkably affordable, which is dangerous...).

Viper GTS

Viper GTS is the only car that gave me extreme claustrophobia as a driver or passenger. I couldn't wait to get out of the car. Second gen Viper GTS is still the best looking Viper.

You'd love my Ducati.:sneaky:

LOL.

I actually like a variety of engines, but the sound that a Viper makes just isn't very "American." Ford DOHC and GM LSx exhaust tone sounds much much better than the V10 IMO.

S54 and 2JZ are among my favorite engines, but that sound doesn't belong in a Viper, all I'm saying ()🙂

Honestly, I think people just regurgitate that because that's what the writers for the auto rags say. Meanwhile, people continue to wrap these cars around trees because they can't handle the power without driver aides.

I didn't say it shouldn't come with TC, just that it should be possible to disable it by going through a routine that's more complex than on/off. I think people would still kill themselves in these things with or without driver aids (no amount of usual aids will fix someone doing 90+ towards a curve with a bump at the apex that should be taken at 30), but yeah it should be standard.

Definitely a huge majority of drivers couldn't drive a Viper even remotely near the limit without dying. I certainly haven't had a lot of wheeltime in extraordinarily powerful cars like that. I'd imagine ExDeath probably would be able to handle on one the streets pretty easily, not sure about track use though. It seems a totally different skillset learning circuits.

Nothing to me could beat a first generation coupe in looks. They are so god damn hot. To me, its a timeless design.

That looks like the second Gen. Original first gen looks very dated now. Second gen is timeless classic. My cousin had the last year of the second gen- 2002 supercharged Viper GTS. He offered to sell it to me for $40k less than what he put into it but I declined because I couldn't get over the claustrophobic cockpit.

That is a first generation coupe. It debuted in 1996. The actual first Viper was 1991.. But that was a roadster.

That's true but it's still considered second gen. Regardless, we're talking about the same car and the bubbletop GTS is classic and forever the best Viper.

actually you can't unless it was you 😛

but yes its far more likely he was trying to replicate the dukes of hazard

That car could be released today as is and be thought of as 'new'. It still looks fantastic. Definitely Timeless.
I LOVE the way the lines on the spoiler, wheel wells, and brake vent all match. Looks like its going fast standing still.

Well doubt the guy would tell me he got too crazy on the throttle (probably doesn't take much, iirc the original RT/10s put out over 400ft-lbs at like 1700rpm) and swung the back end out too far and lost control if he really just tapped the brakes mid corner and lost control. He caught it right by the right rear tail-light, just about the entire back end had to be replaced - Sports cars like that aren't ment to take hits.
