I knew the Eagles were way overrated but even I didn't think they'd be 1-3. I'm glad though, I don't like them :D - Anyways, at least I got one prediction right. The rest of my predictions are playoff related so still a long way to go.

Still looking goooood. Also I said this in Deeko's thread:

I think the Giants are going to win the NFC east. Also I think Detroit will beat out Chicago for a wildcard spot. Annnd I still think the Eagles/Vick will have a real disappointing season (not disappointing to me, since I don't like them anyways :D), but everyone else seems to think they are superbowl bound. Not gonna happen.

/gloat time

What good is making predictions if you can't gloat a little when things are going your way? All predictions made pre-season of course.

Houston Texans finally making the playoffs? Well...

Sorry Texans fans

Every year for the last 6 years people have picked the Texans as their "sleeper" team to make the playoffs, and for the last 6 years (not to mention every year since the franchise was born), they have missed the playoffs. I foresee the same being true for this season. It's not their offense that's the problem. They will flirt with a playoff spot and come up short as usual. EDIT - 9/7/2011: bleh, now with Manning being iffy for the season it looks like the Texans will probably win the division afterall. So just forget what I said about them earlier :)

oops

;)

GB vs NE still looking good.

I'd say Baltimore and New Orleans at this point.

NE is riding Brady into the post season, lacks defense and has very few offensive weapons. If you look at their schedule, they played a bunch of weak teams at the end of the year. On the other hand, Baltimore is a defense monster, has beaten every playoff team in the regular season, went undefeated in a conference with three playoff teams and seems balanced all the way around.

I think GB is a good team, but their defense is suspect to the point that if Rogers has an off game, they will go down. New Orleans just look like a wrecking ball right now and I think not having a bi-week will keep them focused.

Agree.

N.O. is really peaking now. I'm also picking Baltimore as the other team in the Bowl.

Time to resurrect this to remind folks of their predictions good or bad... should be worth the comedy factor....

The OP did pretty well in the end. He got the Patriots (which wasn't a hugely popular pick) and picking Green Bay was not really much of an embarrasing pick. In these types of predictions, having one team right and picking the team that ended up being the number one seed is pretty damn good.

What's everyone's superbowl bet? I put $50 on the Giants back when they were 17-1. I'm going to supplement with:

$400 Giants +3.5
$100 Giants +3.5 and under (55) parlay and
$100 Giants moneyline and under (55) parlay

I don't know what any of this means.

Probably a good thing that I have no interest in gambling.

I said the Saints and Ravens. Both teams were a few plays away from that. Ravens had a dropped TD pass and the Saints gave the game away to the 9ers. Overall, I'm not shocked by the Pats, but where did the Giants come from? Seemed like they've been trying to find a reason to fire Coughlin and hate Eli for a few years now.

I was right! I predicted that two teams would get to the Superbowl. I'm freakin' psychic!

It's gonna be a good superbowl. As I said after the Giants clinched a playoff spot, they are the one team that can give any team a headache.

I am from boston, so I am picking the Pats....however, I know it's gonna be a tough one to win. Let's face it, Brady willed this team to the playoffs and the defense (I know, surprise) and horrible play calling with a botched FG got them into the big game.

Everyone keep saying that we have all these offensive weapons. I keep saying, "WTF are you talking about"? We have the two tight end set. OK. That is a nice weapon, but what else do you have? Welker....yeah, just double cover him. Now you have Branch...who is overhyped to begin with. Smart receiver with Brady...that is it, but you can take him out the game when you play physical. If anything, it proves it yet again, the Pats needs a deep threat. COme one, what was Brady thinking? Slater is not Moss. The best deep threat you have are the tight ends. The issue is that end one guy is not the fastest, the is other not really a vacuum. Gronk is a beast, but you need a wide receiver to be a deep threat.

The Giants have the defense to keep Brady in check.
Brady didn't even throw for a TD against the Ravens.

I think this will be a pretty close SB.

Indeed I'm happy with my predictions this year, especially predicting the Eagles would suck (oddly enough I don't think they should break up that team at all, they made a really good move keeping Andy Reid, they can still do really well next year with this same group, but I'll still be rooting against them :) )

As for the ATOT leagues I did pretty bad in Pick'em this year for a change. Won one fantasy football league and came 3rd in the other. Came 2nd in the Salary Cap league.

A couple years ago I was rooting for the Giants over the Patriots in the Superbowl but this year I think I'm going to root for the Patriots.

It's funny, but a kid I know came up with a theory that so far is holding true. His theory is that when the Matt Ryna Falcons make the playoffs, they lose to the eventual NFC representative for the Superbowl. That's 3 years of a Matt Ryan lead Falcons making the playoffs and they lost to the Cardinals, the Packers, and now the Giants. Apparently if you wanna make the Superbowl, just hope you get paired up against the Falcons in their firs playoff game.

Hopefully we'll figure out how to win one soon. I wanna get Tony G his playoff (and hopefully Superbowl) win before he retires.
