2012 Steam Summer Sale: DEAD!

After resisting the Batman games I think in two deals now (and already owning them unplayed on the PS3), I'm thinking of getting AC for $10.19, without DLC.

Instead of the $24.99 package - the imposters game seems like a great idea, but I don't enjoy shooters much. I could always play something like Team Fortress 2 if I wanted that.

There was an article I linked earlier claiming that AC looks a lot better on the PC than consoles.

AC on PC is really fantastic. The gameplay is a little derivative (of good titles, in good ways), but I've had a lot of fun playing it on and off over the last few months.

I LOVED Arkham Asylum, and have just begun to play AC, and it's even better. I'd highly recommend playing AA first, then AC. If you play AC first, AA won't be as fun I don't think, as AC is basically a highly polished, tweaked, souped up version of AA.

Definitely get AA: GOTY, and AC. I hear the DLC for AC, the Harlequin's something-or-other is worth the price too.

If you don't have the games, the 2K collection is a decent deal for $49.99:

"Includes 7 items: BioShock® 2, Sid Meier's Civilization® V, Borderlands, Mafia II, Spec Ops: The Line, Duke Nukem Forever, The Darkness II"

Spec Ops is $33.49 on a flash deal (after $25 on a recent Amazon sale, now $45); The Darkness II is $12.49 on a flash deal; the others are good games except DNF.

If you're running nVidia, you get the benefit of Physx too, which does add a lot to this game. But just keep in mind that you'll really want an xbox controller to play the game on PC. It simply won't be as fun with a keyboard/mouse, and since you already have the game on PS3, I'd play it there if you don't have a PC controller.

LOL, that's kind of an argument for not buying AA at all, actually.

I played AA, and while it was cool at first, I got bored pretty quickly. AC is much, much better. No reason in my mind to buy AA if you don't have either.

I guess I was thinking of just playing Arkham City (like I'll even get to that)...

Edit: I see Termie reacted similarly🙂 I do have an Xbox controller for PC, not used yet.

I remember sitting in my computer chair and mulling over what platform to purchase Darksiders II collector's edition for. The PC version was $10 cheaper, but achievements are "my pokemon." However, I own the original Darksiders for the PS3 and the PC, and just playing the game on the PS3 once on my monitor showed me why the console version would probably be a bad idea. The game looked awful. There were so many visible dots on the screen that it looked like the game was using sprites! The PC version looks far, far better even though the textures are pretty bland.

So, yeah... I'm sticking with my better looking PC variant that's $10 cheaper.

I wasn't planning on spending anymore money today, until one of my coworkers messaged me and told me to buy AoE III because apparently we're having a LAN soon and we'll be playing it. D:

Holy carp Batman AC is on sale right now. Is the $24.99 bundle worth it? Looks like a tonne of extra crap. Extra maps and such? Thoughts?

I'm going to wait and see if it goes cheaper. ITs a gamble but if I miss it, I'll get it in December during that sell

If it is a daily or flash deal it will not go cheaper.

While steam may not go cheaper, other stores can and do have many flash & daily deals cheaper, even much cheaper that steam did.
(Like the deal I mentioned above that is $10 cheaper from Amazon than steam)

I wish I would've purchased MW3 when it was on sale, it's been the only thing that has appealed to me :\... Maybe it will go on sale again, it didn't make it through the vote-able sale sadly either.

Arkham Asylum is a good game. Don't listen to others saying skip it.

But do make sure you play it before Arkham City, as that is a better game. And there's the storyline aspect.

I loved Arkham Asylum, so I can't wait to play it. Bought AC (skipped the bundle) on the app then got the old lady to turn my PC on at home so it will download while I finish work. :awe:

Tempted to get Metro 2033 too at that price. :hmm:

Anyone care to comment on the Steam ports of the Japanese action-RPG Ys games, Origin and Oath in Felghana? I generally enjoy these types of games, but I never played the originals and I'm not sure what to make of all the modifications for the US and Steam. They're both on sale though, so considering one or both of them.

Speaking of using a console controller on a PC, has anyone figured out a good way to do this with the 360 controller? I bought a generic receiver from eBay and it's given me nothing but trouble. It's super inconsistent about working. I'd rather not buy a wired controller since I already own multiple wireless ones.

They're both good action RPG platformer games. I've played Felghana a couple times (3x more if you include the original console version 😛) and just finished a runthrough of Origin today. Lots of high-energy hack-and-slash with some magic powers. IMO Felghana's story and music are more memorable, but the gameplay on both is equally enjoyable.

Aside from the English translation, Steam achievements and cloud support, they're virtually idential to the Japanese releases. Right now Origin goes for $11 and Felghana for $5. I say go for Felghana and see if they redo the Origin deal later on in the sale.
