2012 - Anyone truly think world is ending?

After a recent debate with one of the members on this board, I thought I would open this up to everybody.

Is there anyone out there who truly believes that the world is going to end, or some massive catastrophe will occur?
 
will a catastrophe occur? possibly. probably not, but you can never tell.
will the world end? no.
 
people who believe in this crap are the same ones who put stock in the writings of nostradumbass.

short answer- no.
 
Well this is a little off of what we discussed in the PM . But lets use NASA scientist . Are you ready to take a beating . You saying nasa has zero belief anything happens in or befor 2012 .

The Mayan calendar is cyclical, it goes so many years then starts over at 0. That's renewal not apocalypse. Long ago many Christians thought 1,000 AD would bring the End Times but it was just another year ending in 0.

I think that NASA has no belief based on concrete evidence that any event that could have a catastrophic effect on the earth is likely to happen on or before 2012.

even if we didn't know that the mayan calender was cyclical, or if they had even specifically written that the world would end in 2012, would it really matter?

wouldn't to me.

I don't think they'll be breaking their losing streak anytime soon. But who knows, maybe they'll get lucky this time. There's always the chance of a nice CME, or a huge comet that's as dark as half of Iapetus. Though technically a CME won't end the world, and really, most life won't give a damn about it, except for the planetwide aurora. Our delicate little power grid would be toast though.
