First, the Portland Winterhawks just won the WHL championship which makes me happy.

For the Rangers game, the whole team played really tough. I don't know how much the TV coverage showed it, but the Rangers were playing like assholes behind the play. Washington got burned by quite a few retaliation penalties where really both guys should have gone.

Very fun game to watch live.

Getting back to Ducks-Wings, I realized Mike Babcock has forgotten more about hockey than I'll ever know, but how did he choose Lashoff over Colaiacovo? Colaiacovo looked so much more settled out there on the ice. His first pass was made so much faster and was always on the tape without someone bearing down on the person he was passing to.

Colaiacovo, Lashoff.... Who cares, I'm just happy we have enough healthy guys that he doesn't have to play Tootoo. The dude can barely skate.

Names usually normalize for me after a while but I still can't get past Abdelkader.

It sounds like a tool for applying lotion to your private parts.

Hrmmm. For some reason I got it in my head that the NHL "re-seeds" after the first round. What sport am I thinking of that does that? Or am I just way too tired and completely off base?

Oh man, can you imagine how much whining there would be every year if the NHL just decided who was facing each other in the 2nd round?

Wow, what a break for Chicago.

No disrespect to Detroit, they're a good team that gives CHI problems. But for the second playoff round in a row the Hawks get the best possible opponent.

Wings take it.

My west team predictions: 4/4 o_O
East remains to be seen, but i got Montreal-Ottawa wrong (to my delight, as i'm cheering for the Sens).

I'm just hoping Quenneville's luck against Detroit in the playoffs continues. As a head coach, he has never won a series against Detroit 0-5.

Let me just say to all the Free Agents that turned down playing for Detroit and are now going home to play golf:

SUCK IT!

I am now interested in the timing of the games in the West for next round as I will be in the SF area at the end of the week.

Michael

(I am rooting for the Rangers and the Leafs tonight. leafs only because the Boston fans in this thread are vocally anti-Habs. I actually don't like either team. Cheering for the Sharks now to take it all).

How is that a break? Which remaining team played CHI better than DET?

It is a break because of the short distance between the two cities. Much easier travel schedule than going out to SJ would be.

that has been the story of the whole series. i'm not blaming the losses or anything on the refs, but the officiating has been terrible the whole series, both ways. but the penalty calls have been totally lopsided against the caps. just look at the stats it's obvious.
