That's good news for Community. The feeling was that 2/3 of the shows were going to get picked up, but unsure on which two. So I guess Go On will get a season order and Community might get another half order to fill a hole.

It felt like the series finale last night.

i am disappointed that 1600 Penn got canceled. It was over the top but i laughed at it far more then some of the shows that got way more viewers. I kind of feel that if some of these good shows like community and whatnot were on other networks they would have had much better viewer ratings. How some of the stupid shows on CBS get massive ratings while awesome shows on NBC get the leftover table scraps in beyond me.

AMEN. I can't stand most, if not all of the sitcoms on CBS, forced, regurgitated jokes told to a guffawing audience is just sickening. And the dramas are all the freaking same.

And last nights Community felt more like a series finale than a season finale to me too. I really liked that show, and I hope it gets one more season. If crap like 2 broke girls or 2 1/2 men can get indefinite runs, something like Community deserves another season.

It was done that way on purpose, because they don't know if they're going to get renewed. I could say the same thing about the season 3 finale too. It felt like a real series finale as well.

Honestly, I don't want it renewed. But I think NBC is going with a 'devil you know' mentality and will use Community to plug a hole from a show that tanks.

Now, I agree with you in regards to comedy shows on other networks. The only non-nbc sitcoms I watch are New Girl and Raising Hope and they're both excellent. Raising Hope belongs on NBC, as far as I'm concerned.

But 1600 Penn was terrible. And it was terrible for one reason. Josh Gad. Dude was just fucking horrible. Honestly, if he was gone, I probably would have watched it because I really liked the premise and the rest of the cast. But Gad had to go.

The problem is, Community doesn't pull in ratings. It doesn't even pull in ratings to NBC standards. There was a huge bump in ratings for the premiere and it fell off instantly. That sends the message "A lot of people tried to watch our show and didn't like it.' Season 4, especially the finale, was just fan service. There was nothing new or original. It brought nothing to the table to try and make it accessible for a normal TV viewer. Listen, I love that about Community but it's essentially a sinking ship at this point, and I'd much rather let McHale and Pudi move on to something else and let Glover write for something that will get more attention.

I actually liked josh gad, his style worked for me, but obviously i was in the minority or the show would have better ratings. I have never seen new girl, but i love Raising Hope and agree that it feels more like an NBC show.

i feel that Community is another arrested development. It actually requires your attention when you watch it or you will miss jokes because they are quick and sometimes very subtle. It has a core audience but most of america would rather be told when to laugh by the laugh track on two and a half men.

The problem with Community is that it's completely unwatchable dreck now. It started out quirky and nobody has ever managed to make quirky last for more than a season or two. After that it devolves into complete idiocy where anything goes. At this point it might as well be Romper Room on acid. Is there a single episode of Community where the characters are not puppets, claymation, living in an alternate dimension, an alternate timeline or with split personalities?

I agree. Southland was a great show. I will miss it.

Also, I'm enjoying Hannibal. I hope it sticks around but knowing NBC it won't.

Yep. Southland was/is a good show...but...
when they (apparently) killed Cooper, I expected that it was a sign of the end of the show.

I hear the Community/AD comparison a lot. Some of it's true. But there's a pretty big difference. AD has 6 Emmy's. Community has 1. For achievement in animation. Community only has 1 other Emmy nomination and AD has 16 other nominations.

Don't get me wrong, i think that AD was way funnier. In fact, its my all time favorite show. i don't like to rewatch things very often and yet i have watched that entire show 4-5 times and each time i laugh just as hard as the last time. I just think that Community has alot of the same traits that AD did that caused the average person to not watch it.

Too bad about Southland, it has been one of my favorite shows consistently since it started airing. I can´t remember any other show having so many WTF moments, including deaths of main characters that were truly unexpected.

I didn't want that to sound like I was criticizing you for the opinion. It's just that I get off Reddit sometimes and there's the huge cry of 'Community is being just as mistreated as AD was!' and 'Community is just like AD!' and it's so irritating because AD was so much better than Community is and was recognized for it. Community is, at best, an above average show when it works.

On a side note, looking real forward to Emmy wins for House of Cards and Arrested Development this year!

Seriously, I cannot fathom a terrible show like The Following getting renewed if a show like Hannibal ends up cancelled. Of course, NBC hates success so...

Also bummed about Southland.

Once Whitney was cancelled it was a lot more of a possibility. Surprised NBC cancelled Go On though. That leaves P&R and Community as the only returning sitcoms.
