Knew about the office last season awhile ago and see nothing else here I watch other then mob doctor and it's another doctor show so no big issue there.

Surprised animal practice lasted this long after the preview episode sucked so much.

How I Met Your Mother is almost certainly in its last season as well.

I wonder why:

not sure about himym. it's getting hurt a bit now because of the partners following but the producers have said that the mother will become known in this season.

Jason Segel has announced its his last season, and so have one or two others though I can't remember which ones.

All of the actors contracts run out at the end of the season and the showrunners are going to reveal the mother. Indeed, while it hasn't been cancelled the show would have to be substantially recast and really become a different show.

Its pretty much over.

What's the word on Community and Parks & Rec I thought they both got 13 episode seasons to wrap it up as well.

assler confirmed that the network is in talks with 20th Century Fox TV and creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas for a ninth season of veteran comedy How I Met Your Mother. (Tassler’s “pet monkey” wore a HIMYM tie too!) “The show had an incredible year last year,” Tassler said. “We’re having conversations right now about extending it, we want the show to come back next year. We’re still in early conversations, we’re not there yet in terms of resolving the situation, but we’re pretty optimistic.” Talks for a potential Season 9 are starting early because of the concept of HIMYM, which will lead to the reveal of who the mother is, so planning for a final season has to start way in advance. “Craig and Carter have a very strategic wrapup for the show,” Tassler said.

Unless you got a different publication saying something different, this is what I'm going with.

There are a lot of contracts that need to be signed
The first step toward a ninth season is extending the contracts of creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. The deals for the two end after the upcoming season. Obviously, if nothing can be reached with them, the negotiation process will come to an end. There is also the matter of extending the licensing deal with 20th Century Fox, the studio that produces the show. While both negotiations matter, they should easily be settled. What might be much harder is signing all of the actors. The five main cast members all have deals that end after the eighth season. Some of them, namely Jason Segel, might be ready to focus entirely on movies. "I think after eight years, I'll feel like I honorably did my commitment," Segel said in an interview. Unless all five actors return, a ninth season would be less than satisfying.
The timing matters
When a three-year deal was reached in 2010, most assumed that the eighth season would be the last. For a show that is building toward a planned conclusion, timing is everything. The producers clearly laid out a plan that culminated with Ted meeting his future bride late in the eighth season. It was only recently that the idea of a ninth season came to the forefront. If the show is extended, the producers will need to adjust storylines in the eighth season so that they can save the big reveal for another year. At the same time, they can't bank on a ninth season only to have negotiations fall through. That would spoil the creative process. Basically, if any deal is going to be reached, it is likely to happen early in the fall.

Very interesting, thanks for the HIMYM news.

Any particular reason why you think so?

Wow, I thought Mob Doctor would actually do better.

On a happier note: I just discovered 2 Broke Girls over the summer and love it. Also discovered Community, but that's in liimbo🙁.

I tried to drop Hawii-Five-O to lighten my TV load, but what can I say, it's entertaining.

I read something about community getting a delayed start, but nothing about a cancel yet.

The network announced in May that it would premiere Community and Whitney on October 19 and air them in the Friday 8 PM hour. Now both shows’ return has been postponed, with Grimm reruns slated in the Friday 8 PM slot for the time being. The idea of launching a comedy block with younger-skewing comedies on the low-trafficked Friday night raised eyebrows in May. It was a decision made before the arrival of Jeff Bader as NBC’s new head of scheduling in August. In its statement today, NBC hints that Community and Whitney may be relocated to a higher-profile night Monday-Wednesday as replacements. So far, NBC has given new comedies Go On and The New Normal, which air on Tuesday, full-season orders. Guys With Kids and Animal Practice have struggled on Wednesday, though both posted week-to-week increases last Wednesday. Here is NBC’s statement:

It's a pretty safe bet its the last season.

Everything was geared towards this being the last season. Without Segel can you keep Hannigan?

If they do anything it will be like what they did with Three's Company and really just do a whole new show with some of the characters.

Oh, and if they don't reveal the mother this year they are going to have some fan blowback.

If the show goes on it will be How I Married Your Mother with Ted romancing the future Ms. Mosby

Do we all know with 100% certainty that Segal won't come back for Season 9? I agree that it's an all or nothing proposition.

He has not come right out and said so, but the handwriting is on the wall. He wants to do movies and the show doesn't have the ratings to pay what it would take to keep him onboard.

Last season surprised with the highest ratings ever which caught everyone off guard.

It seems to have dropped back a bit this season. In fact, the first few episodes haven't been that great. Maybe its because after all these years people are expecting some real progress on the mother thing.

We already know
that Barney and Robin will get married. Marshall and Lilly already got married and had a kid. The brought back Victoria from season one because they literally didn't know what else to do since we already knew any new relationship for Ted would end by the end of the season when he meets the real Mother.

There is really no place for the show left to go. Barney can't even be Barney after this season. Neal Patrick Harris will be 40 by next season and is beginning to show his age.

And to be honest it has been kind of slow this season. Bangtoberfest kind of cracked me up but something about everyone being tied down in relationships has changed the dynamic of the show (and not for the better imo).

Well they said both those relationships ended in a month on that episode.

Well, supposedly Community was getting 13 episodes to finish out its run but its really so they have just enough episodes for syndication.
I think NBC is holding open the idea of renewing it if they get better numbers with the new showrunner.

Any idea when they plan on killing The Mob Doctor?

saw one conversation that they may keep it till the baseball season is done as a slot filler as needed instead of starting something else which could have it's weekly runs interrupted.

Up All Night is pretty funny, I watch it every week (on Hulu+, not sure if that counts for ratings).

Community is one of the best TV shows in the last 10 years, so naturally they'll unload the show's creator and cancel it. I hope season 4 is good, though.

Parks & Rec is great, so count on that to get the axe.

The Office has actually rebounded fairly well. This season so far is pretty funny, enough to keep me watching. It's time to wrap it up, though, so I'm at least glad to see it going out without sucking horribly.

Actually, if all of the above get canned, that would leave me with one TV show in my regular rotation: Modern Family. I think this is the year we're canceling cable and going to stream only. For the few shows that we watch, if it's not on Hulu+ it's worth just buying it on Amazon.
