where are you guys seeing this?

At this link:

Hit up the Steam forum for the game. There is a thread there and a person has a save filed uploaded so you can DL it and do it pretty quick. Just need to use pyro whatever it is called to catch the animals on fire. Also, turn your OS's calendar to the 25th and buy something in the store (the store is to your right when you load up the save file) to unlock the other achievement.

Here is a wiki page setup to deal with a lot of these winter achievements, a lot have videos. I'll add it to the OP as well.

I have a funny feeling inside: two days in, and I haven't bought anything. Yet, I feel like I need to buy something--like, it would be wrong if I didn't.

Nothing interests me, at all--but I feel this compulsion to purchase because I expect that I need to.

Is there something wrong with me?

:hmm:

Buy Dungeons of Dredmor, Psychonauts, or Costume Quest.
All are very good and cheap

AI Wars achievement: how long does this take?

I bought the game a sale or two ago, but only played tutorial for about 5 minutes and realized this was not what I needed at the moment, lol. (though I do like these kinds of games)

I'm hoping I can just start some campaign and spam some shitty ships that will be killed quickly, no? or does it work that way?

Try hitting up the Steam AI War forums. I got someones save (though the save was in use with all the expansions, I'm not sure if someone else put one up that just needs the base game).

This is a long achievement to get, especially if you haven't played the game. Losing 30k ships isn't a quick process no matter how you go about it really.

Don't want Dredmor--saw it enough in previews and although it is the type of thing I grew up with and loved at one point, I now accept that it is the type of thing that I will play for a spell and completely reject, somewhat angry with myself for playing the same damn game, yet again, lol (like with Titan Quest and all the other Diablo clones)

Actually considering Costume Wars, though, and was thinking about gifting for my 5, soon to be 6 year old nephew. Though, not sure if he can handle it. He's currently engrossed in trying to break my Doodle Jump record, but he also loves Crush the Castle. Loves Mario Wii whenever I am over, but only plays a handful of the same levels.

well, OK. screw that, lol.

I did finally get my items, though.

yep: 3 lumps of coal. My mysterious Portal 2 item tab disappeared as well.

Costume Quest is freaking great for kids. It is so well written and has some much charm. It has stuff for the kids and adults. It is pretty easy standard flare RPG, but it is all about the written and charm that makes it shine.

hmm, I may have to consider that, then.

can I maybe get a second copy as gift, and make it unassigned?

They don't have steam over there, yet, so I can't immediately gift to him as he doesn't have a steam account.

When you checkout just select to make it a gift, it was then ask you if you want to send it to someone right away or do you want put it in your Steam inventory.

Won Portal 2 for an achievement thingy. :awe:

(Was waiting for it to hit the $10 region due to a holiday sale, but this is even better.)

Also got one piece of coal and a 50% coupon for Revenge of the Titans so far.

Managed to get seven (7) coal today. Crafted them into a "50% off Disciples 3 franchise" coupon. Woohoo.

My inventory currently consists of that, a 50% off any Valve game coupon, and a copy of DoD: Source.

I've been grinding the Christmas objectives for other games too, so I still have a lot more stuff to win (even if it's all mediocre stuff). Only 2 days into the sale, 12 more days to go.

Edit: typo

From that list I linked to, probably a good 2/3 of them. Of course I'll probably buy more when they actually appear on daily deal.

I finally got the achievement for Bunch of Heros. The developers actually had to fix the game earlier today because the Christmas achievement was broken. It took me a few hours, but I did it, and I deleted the game from my hard drive immediately afterward because it's shit.

So far I've done probably ~15 achievements; some of them have been redeemed for prizes, others not (but will when they appear on the front page). Next I'm gonna work on L4D, Beat Hazard, Frozen Synapse, and AYIM.

AYIM (And Yet It Moves) is an absolutely terrible indie game and I hate it. I haven't progressed far enough to get the achievement because it's so frustratingly difficult; not in a fun-Super-Meat-Boy kind of way, but in a bad bad way. I don't know how, but the developers managed to create a puzzle platformer that's extremely challenging while being absolutely no fun at all. I honestly think I'll just wait until a gamesave is released that I can download and hamfist the achievement. (like I did with AI War and Psychonauts)

I have no life.

Damn, Why do I get the crappy stuff? 3 lumps of coal and a 25% off Valve coupon.
