The Mustang was coming out closer to $40k for 2011. For the $14k, I'd rather save up a bit longer. If I pass on the Grand Sport configuration, it drops the price another $6k.

What were you configuring in the GT to get it to $40k? Everything? The base is just under $30k, and comes standard with what used to be called the track pack. Base Vette is $48.5k

I was configuring the car with everything besides the glass roof panel and automatic transmission. Basically, brake upgrade, Nav, HID headlights and so on. The new car only comes with some parts of the track pack and the price has gone up. For what you pay $35k now will be about $40k in 2011. I also get the employee discount on the Vette which drives the price down. Takes almost $8k off the one I was looking at.

a 300 hp 2011 costs several thousand less than a 300 hp 2010 with similar equipment.

Fully loaded too.
I would still have it today if it was not stolen in 1998.
Only new car i have ever purchased.

I have owned several mustangs, a XK8 Jag and a 1999 stang cobra, even the 7-up convertible stang, that was T-boned in a intersection, not my fault.

Would still own the 7-up if it was not totaled.

No way i can afford the new stang prices.

Do you mean a 412hp 2011 vs. a 300hp 2010? The 305hp 2011 V6 will cost a lot less than a similar 300hp 2011 GT.

Only have it while my grandmother is around. My grandfather worked for GM and it stays in the family as long as the spouse is alive. She is in her 80's, so I want to at least get the Vette while I can.
