It's nice and all but I'd still prefer the Genesis Coupe price wise. MSRP comes to $31,430 while a similarly equipped GT Premium comes to $37,485. That's a little over 6 large!!!

Performance isn't even gonna be close. What did you put in the GT to get it to $37k? Nav?

The $22k 307HP V6 Mustang should be the equal to the 3.8L Genesis. The GT is 412hp 5.0 V8. Can't really compare that.

The 2011 Mustang GT is a significantly better car than a Genesis coupe. If you want performance, skip all the extras and get a GT for ~30K. Thats a steal for a car with this performance.

I buy used, and I want a V8 but don't care if it has 300 or 400 HP. Therefore, in a year or so the new GT will push down old GT prices with the 300 HP engine. Win-win.

Gotta say though, if I were buying new, 30k for a GT is a bit high. But 30k for 400 hp is a good deal. Which leads me to the conclusion - I think the Mustang should offer a V8 with less HP - like 300, at the old ~25k price point. Perhaps the 400hp as a step up Cobra option. But that's because I consider V6 Mustangs to be a sacrilege. Most buyers who want to save will just get the V6 and be happy.

Hmmm... Not bad Ford! Not the biggest fan of the styling, but it's gonna be interesting to see how it prices out once they update the website. I REALLY like what you get in the Genesis Coupe for the $$.

After the initial 3-months of additional dealer mark-up then expect 3-months of MSRP and then finally $2 - 6K in discounts.

$40K will get you a fully loaded (minus glass roof) track pack with Nav 400HP monster of a pony car.

Nice to see The BREMBO brake option!!!

There's a glass roof option??! D:

Get the GT without the glass-roof and/or Nav then? Why is nav being looked at as a necessity in a sports car? It's not a performance option for a performance orientated car so I guess I'm missing the point. If you couldn't live without it, pony up the cash for the factory option or spend $200 for a garmin.

Maybe the ~355 horse ecoboost V6 as a 26k option to split the difference? And an ecoboost 5.0 in the cobra with 450+?

Hey i think they did...it's called the 2007-2010 Mustang GT. ;) You're just going to have to get over the V6 bit. Or you can chew on it until your older GT gets dusted by a 2011 V6. :(

Yeah nav systems are pure profit for auto makers. You know they can't cost more than $1000 (realistically more like $500) in parts. I bet it's even cheaper to include auto climate control when you have a nav system, because you can eliminate the special climate switches & replace it with an on-screen GUI.

I'm hoping that car companies will start pricing nav systems closer to reality now that some manufacturers are trying to use them as selling points. (Nav is standard on Suzuki SX4 & is a $400 option on the Sentra.)

Try $25 for a RF receiver, a 10 year old PC, and a LCD, all made in Taiwan.

I've also been wondering why a $30 cheapo portable media player has a full color high-resolution LCD, and my $15,000 car has a two-line single-color led display that looks like circa 1981 tech. Pretty much all cars are like that unless you opt for the in-dash navi systems, or you're buying a high-end car.

I want a 3" x 8" OLED Screen with a 1280x480 resolution damnit. Couldn't cost more than $50 in bulk.

MSRP for a base 2010 Corvette coupe 6M is $48930 according to the Corvette site. That includes a removable roof, launch control, Auto Climate Control, Leather, HID headlights, Run flat tires, push button start, and a 430hp V8 that gets 26mpg.

With discounts and bargaining...

I was looking into the 2011 GT until I saw the pricing, but the Vette was still in my price range. I'm able to get a 2010 Grand Sport, 3LT, 6sp, with Nav for around $54k. Guess the Vette has always been something I aspired to owning while the Mustang/Camaro was more of a compromise.

$54k vs. ~@$35k .. that's enough $ to buy another car in between :)

Yeah the Vette is really a legend. If you can afford it and want one, why not?

The Mustang was coming out closer to $40k for 2011. For the $14k, I'd rather save up a bit longer. If I pass on the Grand Sport configuration, it drops the price another $6k.
