:\ What's so disgusting about it?

The uncontrolled zeal for a gold medal on home turf contributed to the death of the Georgian luger. Canadians seemed to not even care - a death was worth a possible gold medal. It's as if the Own the Podium mania has robbed them of their humanity.

That's the backdrop many have while viewing these Olympics. Hence, its reputation as the Worst Games Ever.

Again, are you saying the Canadian lugers are technically so far above the other lugeers that the Canadian Luge Association, in cooperation with Canadian Skeleton association, Canadian Bobsleigh Association, the engineers, VANOC and the IOC, would make the track impossible for everyone else to win?

Is there a problem with the track? Yes.

Was it intentional? No. Probably was left open for the benefit of the media to get a shot of the athlete as they exit the turn.

Was it to make sure Canadians can win a Gold? WTF are you smoking???

With regards to "Own the Podium", most Canadians I know shake their head at it.

By the way, read the excerpt below and think about your choice of the word jingoism.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jingoism

Jingoism is defined in the Oxford English Dictionary as "extreme patriotism in the form of aggressive foreign policy".[1] In practice, it refers to the advocation of the use of threats or actual force against other countries in order to safeguard what they perceive as their country's national interests, and colloquially to excessive bias in judging one's own country as superior to others – an extreme type of nationalism.

No, I'm saying that they knew of the track's dangers and continued with restricted use of it to give Canadian athletes an advantage.

Is there a problem with the track? Yes.

Was it intentional? No. Probably was left open for the benefit of the media to get a shot of the athlete as they exit the turn.

The decision to use the track and restrict access was intentional.

Was it to make sure Canadians can win a Gold? WTF are you smoking???

Of course it was. They even cut traditional ties in the sport with the USA to take full advantage.

With regards to "Own the Podium", most Canadians I know shake their head at it.

I'm glad. It has become a phrase of much negativity in the world.

It seems like you should read your own excerpt.

lol I'm 100% sure they are brewed at the Molson brewery 1/2 mile from my house.

my hangover screwed up my post, meant to say coors only brewed at the golden facility because i just took a tour there.

but they also brew molson out in golden, because they were cranking out 12packs like champs yesterday.

still doesn't explain why she's drinking an american beer.

Hockey question: Why don't they get some fat ass sumo wrestler to be the goalie in hockey? He would just have to stand there because with pads and all he would be the size of the goal.
