New flash, the first half of this year was driven by El Nino. Much like 1998.

Those who believe in global warming will pick and choose the data that supports their case; those who do not believe in global warming will do the same for their side. Each side will decry anecdotal evidence for the other, but use it for themselves. This gets nowhere.

I agree completely. Let's stick to science.

Isn't it odd that there hasn't been a single science-based counter-argument to the story linked to in the OP?

So, by that reasoning, when El NinA periodically hits, we should experience all those record LOW temperatures, right? And those record lows all occurred . . . um . . . WHEN, exactly?

This is as almost as stupid as the people who made a post everytime it snowed or was unseasonably cool and claimed it was evidence that climate change is teh lie.

Three months does not a trending make.

Though the article does have longer term data

"Each of the 10 warmest average global temperatures recorded since 1880 have occurred in the last fifteen years. The warmest year-to-date on record, through May, was 1998, and 2010 is warmer so far (note: although 1998 was the warmest year through May, a late-year warm surge in 2005 made that year the warmest total year). Analysis by the National Climatic Data Center reveals that May of 2010 was the warmest global average for that month on record, and is also the warmest year-to-date from January to May. "

But its not like adding this year to that trend is some ultimate discovery.

I hate these debates. I never know whether to listen to the scientists or the nut cases.

... and of course more tax money to the government for the democrats to waste will fix the problem, right?

Just got back from a week in Los Angeles and it never broke 80 the entire time I was there. Also, it's 81 here right now. I can't remember the last time it was in the 80's in June in Central California.

Fig 3. From SPPI. For almost nine years, the trend in global temperatures has been falling. The IPCC’s predicted equilibrium warming path (pink region) bears no relation to the global cooling that has been observed in the 21st century to date. Note the very sharp peak in global temperature in early 2010, caused by a strong El Niño Southern Oscillation. Source: SPPI global temperature index.

Right. This is exactly what MMCC-believers are advocating.

As a mental exercise, assume that it was somehow PROVEN that MMCC was real and would ultimately cause catastrophic damage if not reversed or at least controlled. What would YOU advocate in that case?

LOL! Local climate is not an indicator of the current global cooling we're experiencing.

Time for a little panic drumming to push carbon and CO2 tax, fear mongering cultists.

No shit. Global warming is neither brown nor named Pedro. Turn a blind eye and that problem will go away, too... woefully predictable and pathetic fools.

Great post: In response to my request for record LOW average monthly and yearly temperatures to counter-balance these record highs, you display a chart claiming that temperatures aren't INCREASING as fast as the IPCC predicted?

No, he displayed a chart showing that temperatures are decreasing rather than increasing as the IPCC predicted.

Simply put, he pwned you.

Yep, majority scientific community and climatologists, or spidey07 and his gang of internet expert denier commandos? Tough call.

Lol I know. Like I said I've had a few people I know tell me they can't wait for summer(even just last weekend) for me to point out it's already half way through June. Last year it didn't get over 75 down here in West LA and the South Bay until like late August.

Since the OP is focused on the NOAA report, perhaps you can explain to us all how NOAA is a troll organization.

Or is dealing with fact-based empirical data just too scary for you?
Scary? Not in the slightest. What gets to me is the near constant posting from yourself and other like minded individuals about something that if it were true, we cannot turn around. If we've killed the planet, we've killed it. We could close every factory, park every car, cease heating our homes and quit exhaling here in the U.S. and the difference would be immeasurable. In the meantime, while we lived in the dark ages, volcanoes would still erupt and China would still be bringing coal fired power plants on line to just scratch the surface.

When one constantly obsesses about something that is out of their control, I always heartily suggest intervention by professionals. Willingly seeking help is always preferable to being hauled off against one's will.

Oh, I almost forgot. There is other empirical data that contradicts your empirical data. But by all means continue posting once a week or so to try and soothe your angst. If you haven't figured it out yet, it's high time someone told you, it's not working. You're still worked up. Maybe it's time to try something else. See the paragraph above.

Possibly........

But there is a lot of entertainment value here. To top it off, you can't beat the cost! Once one figures out that they're not going to change one single damned thing by posting here, it's immensely entertaining.

I enjoy face to face discussions. This...is just for grins.

LOL... That's right, you're 17. I'm 42 and I've been living in the Tampa Bay Area for 30+ years. This past winter was like the winters we *used to get* on a regular basis. You're just used to the warmer ones.

Oh, and shens on your 2 months of 50's for a high and 30's for a low. Go to the Weather Channel page and prove that claim.

All the ice melted on the lake like 3-4 months ago. It's very clearly getting warmer.

I have noticed a trend since late January.
The temperatures seem to increase about 10-15 degrees per month.
If this trend continues, even with very conservative calculations, I calculate that the temperature will be so hot, that the air will be hot enough to boil water in approx 12 more months time!!!!!!!

PWN not found.

I asked for record lows. He didn't produce record lows, or any lows at all.

PWN right back atcha.
