Anybody have any experience or opinions about this vehicle?

It's come time for me to order my new vehicle for work, and somewhat to my dissappointment the only two choices I've been given are the Journey or the Grand Caravan.

I was expecting to also have the Jeep Patriot and Ford Escape available to me, of which I was going to select the Escape (which would also be a 6 cyl AWD model).

I'm going to find out if I can push to get the Escape still, but thought I would put the question to the forum to evaluate the Journey as an option.

For context, the vehicle I select will be provided to me with all maintenance costs covered, as well as all fuel costs for business and personal use, so those things aren't too crucial to me in the short term. I do have a long-term interest in selecting a quality vehicle, however, because I will have the option to purchase the vehicle after 48 months or 90K miles when I'll select the next one to be provided by my company.

I currently drive a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, which quite frankly is a pretty nice ride apart from the "soccer mom" factor. It was the vehicle I was given when I was hired 3 years ago and I wasn't given a choice then.

I had one as a rental one time.
It was quite possibly the worst small SUV I've ever driven.
Horrid transmission, and so underpowered it couldn't get out of its own way.

Hmm. I know that the base model comes with a pretty pathetic 4 cyl engine, but I've heard that the 3.5L 6cyl isn't bad. I reckon it's the same engine that's in the Grand Caravan I drive right now, which I can't complain too much about. Do you know if you had the 6cyl or 4cyl model?

I'm sure it was a nicely optioned out rental car. 🙄

It was an SXT with the 3.5.
Had 5 people in it and it could barely keep speed on the freeway and going up on ramps to the 101 Freeway in LA was bad.

The 3.5L in the AWD Journey doesn't have the power the other versions of the 3.5L have. It also swills fuel at an alarming rate for such a vehicle. 15mpg city.

I'm a little biased since my family has a 2008 Grand Caravan, but if the Journey really is anemic and gets 15mpg city, I'd get the Caravan. They really are a good people hauler as I'm sure you've found with yours.

Wait another year for Italians to start straitening this company out. IMO, Chrapsler should of died last year as a punishment for all of these horrible cars they manufactured.

I'm thinking the 2011 Journey will get the all new 3.6L Pentastar V6 and 6spd Auto.

Perhaps you can hold out for a 2011.
