What about Cavs vs. Nuggets? I think the Nuggets could definitely beat the Cleveland Lebrons.

It would be amazing to play the Nuggets in the finals. It would be like Cleve-Det v2.0 only with more sweep.

Have you even watched the nuggets this year? Out of the west they look like they want it the most and they are playing their best ball in the playoffs. These are all good indicators for them. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the finals, but I am sure David Stern has some tricks up his sleeves for the next couple games.

Cleveland isn't going to get a true test until they reach the finals. The eastern conference just wasn't that strong this year. Boston was their biggest obstacle and now they are not much without KG.

Ok I understand he's not an awesome jump shooter but leaving ANYONE open jumpshots with just a one point lead is just stupid.

When you have Ray Allan, Peirce, and House on the floor you take your chances.

Yup. Davis is the last person you think would be getting the ball. But the Magic can't complain. They live by the 3 point shot and it at the end killed them. They didn't bother to drive that much during the celtics 5 minute scoring drought.
What killed Orlando was two terrible calls by the refs. One was a goal-tending call on Howard which wasn't a goal-tending. The other was a non-call on a shot by Pietrus that was goal-tending. The idiot refs even reviewed the play and didn't give Pietrus the basket. TNT re-ran it at least twice and it was clearly a goal-tend since it went off the backboard before Boston swatted it away.

The refs in the playoffs really piss me off this year.

The top teams in the east were better than the top teams in the west this year. Orlando was more of an obstacle for Cleveland than Boston was. As a Cavs fan, as hard as it is, im hoping for a bos-cle ECF because even with KG cleveland would have taken that series, especially with home court. Cleveland has been blowing out opponents this year and the scary thing in this playoffs is that they arent nearly firing on all cylinders. If the cavs get some competition in the ECF and bring their game up to their potential they will be very difficult to beat, regardless of who they endup playing, in the finals.

I like the Denver/Cleveland match up too and agree that the Nuggets are the most aggressive team playing in the west. Between 'Melo, Billups, and and a hot handed J.R. Smith that will give the Cleveland guards some nightmares.

I feel like Cleveland has everything to prove and live up to the hype. Denver has no ones respect and was a major darkhorse coming into playoffs. That's a scary place to be if you are Cleveland.

Goes both ways, though... the was a phantom foul call against Pierce that could have been disastrous for the Celtics.

I still don't understand why Orlando doesn't use Turkoglu and Lewis to their full advantage. Boston has no answer for those guys.

I dislike Boston as much as the next guy, but I see a Cleveland/Boston matchup being much more entertaining than Cleveland/Orlando. As for the Lakers, they really need to figure out what the hell is wrong with their team. Even if they make it past Houston, Denver will dismantle them with the way they've been playing lately.

Same problem. Different year. LA just doesn't want to work for the title. You watch them play, then you watch Cleveland or Boston play. Cleveland and Boston don't give up on plays. Their guys hustle their asses of for every board and loose ball. LA just goes through the motions and hopes that skill can overcompensate for a lack of desire.

Why is there so much dislike for the Celtics? They are a hard-working bunch of guys who play as a team. That is admirable. Of course, we all wish they'd shut the fvck up...

I don't hate the Celtics. Or the Patriots. Just their fans.

:p

F U, greatest fans ever :D

Actually, most of the New England/Boston fans I know personally are very nice people. The same doesn't go for the random person you see at a game or on the internet.
New England-Boston 4LYFE!!!!

If it were fouls I wouldn't be complaining. Both sides had some bad calls and some non-calls. Howard got raped in the middle a few times and the refs had their whistles apparently stuck in their throats. Howard fouled Rondo and they didn't call it, then Rondo flops out of bounds going around Howard and they blow the whistle.

Goal-tending is another matter though. That made for a four-point swing in Boston's favor. Those points were huge in that game.

Maybe Joey Crawford's just too old...? Considering his behavior toward Tim Duncan, and the fact that he's the guy who didn't blow the whistle in the playoffs last year when Derek Fisher mugged Brent Barry, it might be time to put him out to pasture.

Heres a question that has puzzled me for eternity.

Everyone knows the ref's in the NBA are atrocious. How could we solve this? I dont know if it would work, but here are my ideas: Why don't they make the NBA referees an entirely different division that is completely separate from the NBA? I think its kind of ridiculous that the NBA has the choice of which ref to send to which game. They know the tendencies of the refs, and it seems like the same horrible trios of referees end up in the big playoff games. Is this a coincidence, or is there something bigger behind all this?

I mean seriously, why is Joey Crawford still around? He has proven to be a hothead (See: Tim Duncan) and he has also shown to blow some pretty big calls. If there was an independent board that oversaw this type of thing, Joey Crawford would of been kicked out right after the Tim Duncan incident. Now a year later he is involved in the biggest games of the year. It just doesnt make sense to me. Pretty much the only referee I like in the NBA is Dick Bavetta (even though he is a notorious homer ref).

There are many ways we could help create a lot more transparency in the game. Why isnt there a committee of 3 or so officials that are simply watching the game and overseeing all of the calls in the game? Instant replay is very easy to use nowadays and readily available. I dont understand why, at least in the 4th quarter, they have a team of 3 more people that are judging and watching the officials decisions using instant replay. It wouldn't take up that much extra time, and besides the last 2 minutes of an NBA game last FOREVER anyways.

It just doesnt make sense that the NBA hasnt done more to elevate the transparency in the officiating of the game.

Bitch move by Melo. Yeh he was tangled up...but you just can't swing at a guy like that. Doesn't matter how old he gets, the thug is still strong in him.

i keep saying the nuggets are a bunch of punks and melo just proved my point

they ARE talented and are the best in the West right now, but damn, you don't let someone get to you when you're in a game 4 which you're leading by a double digit where you can sweep!
if your team wins and you get suspended, that means you as a star player will not play in the first game of the west finals.

It didn't look like he was swinging at him. It looked like he was just trying to get himself free and pulled his arms really hard that last time.

Hmm, an Orlando Magic fan wants an apology from Big Baby for pushing his kid.

According to Shannon Owens of the Orlando Sentinel, Provetti says Davis shoved his 12-year-old son Nicholas with such force, that Nicholas' baseball cap catapulted into the air and his son went tumbling into his courtside seat.... Please. This "concerned" father says Davis embarrassed his son, but then turns right around and brings even more attention to the footage (and Nicholas) by exaggerating the story and publicly releasing his son's name. Yeah, because that makes a lot of sense. And the real kicker: Provetti used to be a Celtics fan.

IIRC, the kid never fell down.

The instant-replay thing would be tough. The 2-5 minute pause could really cripple the flow of the game, and also halt a team's momentum.

Some things are easy to review - as tasteslikechicken pointed out, Dwight Howard got called for goaltending when, in fact, it wasn't - but how do you rule on something like traveling? Orlando center Gortac took 5 or 6 steps, and then a Celtic was called for the foul. The announcers were already calling traveling when the foul was called.

In game 3 of Cavs/Hawks, LBJ clearly took 2 steps out of bounds under the basket, yet nothing was called. Tonight, he blatantly traveled a couple of times, yet it was not called.

I think the "flagrant foul" concept needs to be canned.
