Im curious why people think the surge(tm) worked? Why didnt Biden rip Caribou Barbi on this? There were so many other important things that contributed (money to the insurgents, which ended/s recently/soon; the anbar awakening, which happened before the surge; the truce of al-sadr; the ethnic/sectarian cleansing; the exodus of Iraqis; etc).

Biden was no clear winner. Palin did very well and did what she wanted in this debate. Biden fumbled around trying to find the right talking to point to toss out there hoping it sticks.

The very definition of narcissim would be being a Republican and yet continuing to support an additional four years of the last eight, Bo!

Deregulation and continued tax cuts for the ultra rich and Exxon, FUCK YEAH! 😉

I never claimed to be anything other than an asshole

And given I have stock in Exxon....fuck yeah!

But really, interjecting your statement as if the OP had in some way directed that comment towards you specifically...little high on your horse there bud.

The lefty fringe will think he killed her in the debate, the righty fringe will think she was awesome. The fact is that she held her own. Lets face it, everyone (right or left) expected her to get trounced. That simply did not happen. The expectations were way low for her, and she did herself a lot of good by simply doing a good job not making major mistakes.

It's just funny how those on the fringe think their political opinions are those of the average person......

if you voted for bush the second time, you were on the fringe of permanent stupidity.

im hoping enough americans pulled back from that precipice in the last four years.

She took a mini-swipe at the mainstream media at the end.

bad form imho, her and mccain should leave it up to their minions to talk shit about the MSM.

and talking smack about the MSM isn't going to help her cause at all between now and election day.

I wasn't sure how much real impact she'd have, but i said and do think it's valid that you cannot--or should not (apparently sometimes can, tonight case ni point) have a grossly impartial moderator for something like that. Water under the bridge in this case, though.
Again the assumption she was "grossly impartial" - she's writing a book about the rise of blacks in mainstream American politics, culminating in the presidential nomination of a black man by a major political party. I've seen nothing to indicate it is a partisan Obama fluff.

Being high on a horse is the only place in the entire paddock where you're guaranteed not to step in horse shit, Bo.

Krauthammer on Fox now, allowing how Biden won on points and knowledge, but Palin beat him in the debate by force of her personality.

haha wtf

Homerun for Sarah Palin. If you took away the Katie Couric interview maybe I wouldn't be this surprised, but she looked bright, confident, and knowledgeable. SNL will have it's hands full trying to make that funny.

Anyone notice Biden said Article 1 defines the VP powers? It's actually article two. Whoops Joe. On the other hand, on the same question it was pretty clear Palin had no idea about when Cheney tried that stunt, nor that every single legal authority was too busy laughing at the claim to bother refuting it, and then she went and agreed with it. Whoops Sarah. As to the American people? Maybe 5% know which article of the Constitution defines which branch, and 5% might remember Cheney saying the VP wasn't part of the Executive branch so maybe it's a wash.

It seemed like Biden's strategy through this was not to attack her very much but instead direct all attacks towards McCain, which he did very well.

I see your haha, and raise you a ROFL, and then a WTF?

Not enough credit will be given to Biden tonight. He was just hitting point after point after point and slamming McCain on his false record and outright lies. He did a lot of good for Obama tonight in the minds of the voters that matter, the Independents.

Lol I am a conservative but Fox News is funny right now, they have a little 20 person audience in the studio and must have paid them to say how much they love Palin right now. Reminds me of an infomercial audience.

probably a luntz focus group

Exactly. Just as valid and informative as most of his groups are.

I get his surveys. I can never get on a panel though. Bastard.

There seemed to be several points Biden couldn't respond i.e. previous support for McCain and lack of for Obama. He should have defended those points better.

Biden did what he needed to do. Focus the debate on John McCain and the economic/foreign policies that he supports. Obama couldn't have asked for a better performance from McCain.
