Duke Nukem Forever? 🙂 (I do hope so. PC FPSs really need an injection of old-school fun, gore and scatology. Seriously.)

While I doubt it, I agree - the genre is ripe for someone getting back to basics...and I don't mean Doom 3 style.

I mean a rip rompin', guns a blazin', one liners a flyin', titties a bouncin', ass kickin', pedal to the metal FPS equivalent of a popcorn flick.

I really hope the game does come out someday :\

i am afraid that the expectations are too high for ANY game to meet.

Serious Sam
was great in the FE and SE but then "2" deteriorated into Self-Parody. 😉

i am looking forward to Alan Wake ... possibly Spore ... certainly Dragon Age.

Only really looking forward to the new Total War, Stalker: Clear Sky and Fallout 3, if they make it this year.

Hopefully other stuff on my B-list like Alan Wake and GTA4 are really good... but if GTA4 is just more of the same, I'll pass. I got GTA 3 and Sand Andreas; while the latter was better, they both got boring quick.

Star Craft 2 won't be coming out this year. Maybe next year.

And pray, how do you know?

I don't care, haven't played Starcraft, so it's not a big whoop to me.

It's Blizzard. I think they'll release it for 2011, maybe further down the line if they make more WoW expansions.

Don't they have separate development teams working on WoW and Starcraft 2?

They do, but I just have that feeling that they'll need some extra muscle to pull off even early 2009. Plus you don't want to release it with something else huge beside it's release date, like Orange Box and Halo 3 on the consoles.

I don't think it's necessarily accurate to say playing an instrument makes you more intelligent than playing a videogame. Intelligence is more of an innate quality.

Now, back on topic.

yeah I prob shouldnt have said intelligence but it was more like adding to a talent I guess...reading over music notes and learning to play I think it more beneficial then playing videos games...even though I love video games 🙂 but I do both on my time

3 of my favorite games were torment, beyond good & evil and indigo prophecy...has anybody heard rumors about follows or think they might do anything for these games?

i just read this on wiki...

"In 1997, 3D Realms announced a direct sequel titled Duke Nukem Forever. It has been shown at two E3s (1998 and 2001) and has gone through several engine changes and restarts. The developers have stated that the game will be released "when it's done." Most recently, 3D Realms released a teaser trailer in December 2007 and announced that composer Jeremy Soule was working with the team." The 11th year? thats insane...i cant imagine what has gone on there

And i finally saw this for the 1st time...

Trailer

Its not like 3D Realms has been working on DNF constantly all these years. It was started and then shelved for a long time. I remember reading a interview once with the 3D Realms head guy saying they had other things they were more interested in doing than DNF. Then they just started repeating Blizz's favorite line about 'When its done' just to shut people up without pissing them off. I guess they finally got the urge to actually make it this time around if the trailer is any indication. Not that it shows anything really. More of a upcoming advertisement. The technology is certainly there now for a killer game. Also a movie tie in with Hollywood would make for a good move if they can get a decent script made with a decent budget. Hollywood is making more 'game' movies these days. Duke is a character people would love to watch on the big screen. The whole attitude thing would be a hit with the crowds I imagine.

Btw, Anyone else think the trailer reminds them of the FEAR graphics? While I watched it I kept thinking graphically its like FEAR. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing.

Actually "when it's done" is originally Carmack's line. If Blizzard used it, they stole it from Carmack!

Btw, Ultima Online 2 is revealed in Games for Windows, and so is "Warcraft Adventures" whatever that is.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3165208

do you have the mag? what's it say about ultima online 2?

Soz dude, but apparently the title is "Whatever happened to UO2?" Which raised my hopes, and it's a stupid issue about delayed games and what happened. I don't care about gaming history, I care about future games, and game design, I wish these so called journalists would realize that.

I'll get some scans of demigod as vengeance. (Or not?)

i saw a list of games in development with hopes of 2008 releases. what i want to know is where is any word of Omikron 2? it was listed as being developed by quantic dream but no peep since, maybe it was canned but would be nice to know. i liked the first one back in the day.

other than that, i'm still waiting for a game to top oblivion. crysis came close to oblivions outdoor splendor, moreso graphicswise. but so little of it.
GTA4 or similar clone would be nice for the PC. too bad gta4's graphics still arent up to par, not bad for consoles but not great for them either and graphics would look worse for pc by comparisons

Here's some more info on Dragon Age.

It was put up yesterday, I do believe, so here's the link;

Good read all in all.

very nice catch...looks like it progressing well...very excited to purchase this game

I think its good that they get rid of potions in rpgs (except witcher which is a different story) i never really used them except for healing...

i wonder what type of melee and combat system they will utilize? oblivon? witcher? NWN? Fable? Jade Empire? should be interesting either way

I think they will employ something along the lines of Witcher, using hotkeys block and parry, and jump around.

Well if the whole world stopped and waited for the team to get the DNF engine together it could have been launched back in 2000... but it wouldn't have the fanbase it has now. And the graphics looked like a modded Prey engine (which was already modded from the D3 engine) and does look similar to FEAR's graphics.

Isn't Alone in the Dark still due for a Q3 release?
-- Atari 😛

it's covered in the latest edition of 'Games for Windows' along with Age of Conan and Huxley - which are still 'on' for 08
... even Savage2

I have a screen from GFW of Demigod. I don't want to get into black area, as I'm already in gray, so the text is muted out.

But here's the picture.

I can't believe I went through all those messages above, and no one mentioned Frontlines: Fuel of war yet.
Also, BF3. EA, please bring back the CTF mode in the base product!
