They talk about these great films, moving scenes etc etc. They make movies. They don't save lives, yet they put on this huge show like they're God's gift to earth.

I have to agree 100% and Jon Stewart even made a joke about it during the show that all they were doing was giving each other awards and it really didn't matter.

How the **** did Transformers lose? WTF?

The story sucked.
The acting sucked.
The transformer vs. transformer fights sucked.
It was too short.
The plot was predictable.
The characters were undeveloped.
Optimus Prime was the wrong kind of semi-truck.
Bumblebee was the wrong kind of car.
Etc, etc.

The award wasn't for the story. It was for SPECIAL EFFECTS.

I forgot the effects sucked too. All the battle scenes with transformers were so fast you thought you were watching a refrigerator and an orec vacuum sodomize each other.

Actually - I loved the movie. :) Sometimes bad movies are the most entertaining.

Bwahahahaha, Jen Garner looked terrified.

KT

Do Garner and Seacrest really not know who Busey is?

Seacrest does for sure, but I'm not sure about Garner, though to be honest I can't tell if she even looked at him, so she may not have seen who it was.

lol. I'm that way too, except that I still hated transformers.

It was actually nominated in both sound categories as well. Probably deserved it for sound mixing, but not editing.

It's a multi-billion dollar industry that employs thousands of artists, writers and technicians; they provide entertainment for hundreds and millions of people that watch their creations. Wouldn't you feel proud if you created something that millions of people paid money to watch?

I'm glad Glen Hansard won for Best Original Song from the movie Once. It was one of the better musicals (and love stories) in recent times and at least it got some recognition.

I call BS. NCFOM - the best film of the decade? pffft!
The Coen brothers are just niche filmmakers.
"The Man Who Wasn't There" is another excellent example. Style over substance.
Zero rewatchability.

I don't think it's fair to point out that one or two Coen Bros movies aren't stellar (the other one I don't love is The Hudsucker Proxy), when almost all of their films are so strong, and this particular one is tremendous.

What other films would you put on a level with, or above NCFOM, in the last 8 years?

Any of these:

Most of these:

Probably one of the best crops so far:
http://us.imdb.com/Sections/Aw...cademy_Awards_USA/2003

For instance, I'll take "The Pianist" (or any Polanski film) any time over "NCFOM" (or any Coen Bros. film)

Not that it matters, but NCFOM was also a box-office disaster.
