Oh yeaaahhh, removable fenders.

One more thing for people to steal. Dumb idea if you ask me, but then Jeeps were always easy to vandalize, so why not make it easier?

whawhawha what is a 3.8 liter V6???
I thought that the Liberty's 3.7 was going in this? Is it just a 3.7 with a larger displacement?
Or is it a new engine that is worth of Jeep? Hmmmm

EDIT: That engine is Chrysler's 3.3 and 3.8 that has been around forever. It is used in the minivans. Is that an engine worthy of Jeep? Hmmm

As long as it has doors on it, I'm fine with people driving it.

Those people with no doors on their Wranglers annoy me.

why?

I just don't understand the point of it.

It looks dangerous, so if you fall out and get run over by me, I get charged with motor vehicle homocide and I spend 6 months locked up in the slammer because you thought that having no doors on your car was "cool."

What's the point of it? Are you in a hurry?

I could imagine if this was Los Angeles, circa 1992, but it's not "cool" anymore or anywhere, sorry.

Oh and don't get all up in arms saying that I'm "crapping another thread." You asked, I answered. No crapping here. Just an opinion. I just don't want to run anyone over.

Some people like to enjoy being outside. Why would you fall out if you're wearing a seatbelt anyway?

I want the 4 door model, in white please.

Yeah it's always great to be sitting in traffic, no roof, no doors, no windows, 105 degrees, next to a steaming dump truck spewing giant black clouds of exaust and deadly carbon monoxide right in your face. Whew the outdoors, I feel like putting on a John Denver album just thinking about it.

Despite what you think, I really do enjoy riding without the top and doors.

Well if I had a Jeep, I'd be on trails every weekend.

Until you park it to go into best buy really quick, come out and see that your stereo and radar detector were stolen (lack of doors) and since you bought the 2007 model, they also stole your fenders.

Its even worse then having a convertable and leaving the top down on that. Because at least they have to get through the doors, or bend over far enough. Even completely honest people (like myself) who never steal anything (that isn't digital) feel tempted when they walk by a Jeep and see the new Escort radar detector sitting there. Or even just the new CD sitting on the dash. Or maybe just the dice hanging from the mirror.

All I can say is - people who drive around with no doors and want a car thats fenders are so easy to remove - must not live in a sizeable city at all. I would refuse to buy another car without getting a locking gas cap, or gas cap door simply because mine has been stolen before and it pissed me off.

Yup, insurance on Jeeps is very high due to the numerous thefts. I wouldn't own one as I think I can get far more vehicle for my money.

When you drive a jeep as your only vehicle, you carry a backpack. Or you get a steel locking console or glove box. (I have the glove box, it's not bad at all)

When you drive a jeep as your 2nd vehicle, you simply don't carry anything in it.

I have a POS detachable face CD player in my jeep and leave it on all the time. I park in lots of beachy places (ft. lauderdale) with the windows off / top down / doors off. I didn't even know people bothered stealing cheap CD players anymore, when you can get them at wal mart for $29 who cares?

Honestly the most costly thing someone could do would be to steal my doors themselves (take about 30 seconds to remove) - those will set you back about $1000 if you're in a crunch. But luckily most jeepers wouldn't do that. (fingers crossed)

PS: What do you need a radar detector in a wrangler for? Even with the 4.0, once you go past 31" tires the laws of physics tend to keep you under the speed limit. 🙂

PPS: I'm on the fence about the new design. I have been waiting to see if I want to sell my 99 and buy an 07 - can't wait for the official unveiling (monday). Overall looks good, I'm a little skeptical about the engine choice and definitely curious about the 4 door. It'll still be my 2nd vehicle but would be nice for it to be a little more highway friendly.

Well it probably isn't a big deal to secure the fenders with keyed bolts or something. I'd leave the doors on most of the time anyway because who the hell wants to drive on the highway without doors?

I had the top and doors off my Jeep from June until Oct. this year and nothing was ever stolen. Common sense told me not to leave anything in it that I didn't want stolen.

And locking gas caps and such are all available with Wranglers. Not that I've ever had one stolen either way.

I like it. Lots of good improvements. Getting rid of the 4.0L I6 is a bit of a disappointment though.

Some of the comments in this thread are just amazing in their stupidity and trolling btw. It's a fsckin' Jeep, people, a fsckin' Jeep.

Isn't that 4.0L I6 very inefficient? It was due for replacement IMO. I'd rather have a 4 cyl than a V6 though.

Looks pretty sweet, but getting rid of the 4.0 I6 is disappointing to me. It's such a good motor, and has proven itself extremely reliable over the past 20-some years. The new V6 better be just as good.

do they ever change???

Good point, but here's a thought...

How about gradual refinement of a product over the years instead of reinventing the wheel over & over?

Hugely popular-Harley's & Jeeps.
