Keep it for at least another 5-6 years. Lower insurance, no payments once you pay it off. There are lots of better ways to spend money then on new cars. Old cars maybe, but not new ones :p Particularly since this seems to be just a commuter/get around town car.

You have 50k saved up?

You can afford any house you want.

Just make sure you can afford to pay for it.

For those recommending buying a house you have obviously never been to ca. Keep the civic or if you are upgrading, get an accord instead.

i do... it's good for weaving in and out of traffic and fitting into compact spaces

They make compact space? Like parking spaces? Not where I live.
Don't you live in Nebraska? Everything is backwards there.

OP, keep the car, upgrading is a waste of money.
Also, with 50K in CASH you should be able to afford your own place to some degree.

So how does everyone else afford to buy then?
Everyone who owns a house is making 7 figures?

at least 6 or very close to... other option is if you're married and have dual income of 6 figures
