That's ridiculous. LT is the greatest RB of our time, no doubt. But the fact is, the Chargers have a great defense that keeps them winning games. What would they be without LT? Not as good, for sure, but still good.

Without Brees, NO would be lucky to win a game.

I love LT, but he is not the greatest rb of our time. I believe Alexander and Johnson are both better backs.

Now if you could back your opinion up with some real facts, people might take you seriously.

You must be kidding though...surely you aren't serious.

Let me guess you started watching the NFL this year right?

LJ has equal LT's yards on the ground this year. Actually out gained him so far by 5. LJ doesn't play in a good offense like LT, LJ is the offense for KC. LJ still has scored 13 tds this year and thats without Trent Green. What makes LJ impressive is he faces 8 men in the box practically the whole game. LT doesn't. LT gets the benefit of a passing game.

As for Alexander, are you kidding me. He has seriuosly outgained LT the last 3 years straight. He was hurt this year though and last year he put up 1880 and 27 tds. A healthy Alexander is a more explosive back than LT. And by the way, another factoid, both LJ and Alexander have slightly better career yards per carry than LT. No question LT is a great back, future HOF imo. But is he the best of our day? I don't know about that one.

Alexander, healthy, I can see an arguement for. Including LJ is just ridiculous IMO. He hasn't even been doing well for 2 full seasons yet. After he has been consistantly getting it done for the better half of a decade, then we could maybe toss his name up into the discussion of all time greats.

I'm surprised lots of people on TV are saying Brees is the MVP. Even as good of a year as Brees is having, it's obviously LT, and Brees is obviously the runner up. How could it not be LT? He broke the single season rushing TD record in 14 games.

Some people believe that just becuase you are the most dominating rusher in the game, you're not the most valuable to your team.

Brees is having an outstanding year but when you're looking at historical performances like LT is delivering, you've got to go with him. Its always hard to overlook a qb who's having a great year because there is so much responsibility in that position, but LT's domination must be recognized unanimously.

It was best put by Dr. Z on SI.com:

Best back in football this year. No argument here. But will you forgive me, please, if I mention that I don't get thrilled by two gimme touchdowns scored in the final four minutes of a game in which the lead was 34-20 and then 41-20? That's it. I've said my piece.

Dr Z. is an idiot. Brees has a strong case for MVP, but you can't knock LT in the process.

Yeah, of course I just started watching NFL this year. You sure have me figured out.

You fuckwit. Alexander is more explosive than LT? You must know something that the rest of the league doesn't. In fact, I think you are one of the few in the entire nation who doesn't already know that LT is the premier back of this modern era.

You can throw out your retarded little factoids but I'll give you some as well.

LJ has a whopping .2yards more per carry than LT, and Alexander has .1 less.

However, LT simply has more TDs. 100 rushing TDs in 6 years (and counting) to Alexanders 93 in 7 years (don't tell me "well he only started one game in 2000 and he got hurt this year). We'll leave LJ out of this since his career is not as long.

~1300+ more receiving yards than Alexander and only 1 lost fumble to Alexander's 3.

LT has 8987yds rushing for his career to date, to Alexanders 8481.

LT has been consistent in performance and consistently healthy. He is the most complete back in the league, hands down.

Get your head out of your ass. When LJ does this for another two seasons, you can get back to me. Yes, he is very talented, but he is not nearly as accomplished as LT or Alexander.

You also can't ignore this year simply because your boy Alexander got hurt. Thats life, it happens.

How about Josh Brown for tying the record of game winning field goals? In terms of being valuable...he should win it.

I'm a Ravens fan as well, but there's no way you can say LT isn't the MVP. There's also no way you can say Brees isn't a close 2nd.

With respect to the value to his team, yes, you can. Brees is IMO (and Dr. Z's) a more valuable a player to his team than LT is to his.

Look, it comes down to how you define the MVP award. You can give it to the most valuable player, but it is often given to the player having the best season, which LT did have. I'm not going to judge---or rather, my judgment doesn't matter---because this argument over semantics has been going on for a damn long time. Having more value is probably something we collectively deem to be more "noble" (or something like that), so that's probably why we call the award what we do, but the reality is that we give it to the player having the best performance (which, again, is LT over Brees). We do something different from what we say, and it's not like this is the first time in human history that we have done so.

In conclusion, good job LaDanian Tomlinson. Now let's all STFU and play/watch the damn games.
