Hi cwf, I hooked up my 3 monitors to an old Dell laptop throught VGA(for testing prupose to make sure it is not my new ATI X800XL video card problem) and set the resolution to 1280x1024. I could see the wavy lines on the left hand side. You can see them in certain colors like dark gray or try this website that OP posted: http://www.xfire.com/xf/index.php

Thats because your running at a lower pixel clock (the resolution is only 1280x1024). The reason the problem goes away on VGA is because VGA is running at a higher pixel clock then DVI. Most likely if you ran at 1680x1050 with VGA the problem would go away.

Myrcgarage, did you set the resolution to 1280x1024 because the laptop won't go higher? Thats my guess why you tested at non-native resolution.
Anyway, I'll post my observations after I test my displays tomorrow night.

Yep, it is an old laptop. It can only do 1280 x 1024 with this monitor. However, either there is a defected part or somehow something is not set right, that's why if you run DVI, it is not running at the right frequency.
