2005 Ford Mustang GT and regular pricing

Ford is calling 2004 ?The Year of the Car,? and the company definitely has the product to back it up. Likely to make the biggest splash when it goes on sale this fall is the 2005 Mustang. An American icon celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the Mustang has been completely redesigned, taking design cues from its celebrated past and combining them with a fully modern structure and chassis. Inside the Mustang a unique instrument panel allows drivers to change the backlight color to suit their personality. "We weren?t just redesigning a car, we were adding another chapter to an epic," said J Mays, Ford Motor Company group vice president of design. Mustang will be available with a choice of two engines. The base will feature a 200-horsepower V6, while the GT sports a V8 producing 300 horsepower. Both models will have a base MSRP less than $20,000.

Is it really going to be that cheap for 300 HP ???

:Q

Why does the new 2005 Mustang GT tempt me so? Maybe it's because I always wanted a '67 Fastback as a kid.
OMG, under $20k and I don't think I could resist.... this has got to be a misprint.

everything else i have read says 25k so i dunno if they changed the price or what
but that is prolly just for standard v6

and imo MSN auto is notorios for getting specs wrong on everything

!!!!! I almost paid $20k for my 0-60 in 10 seconds 2002 Honda Civic.

If you can get a 300hp, RWD 5-speed monster for about $25k... that's crazy. Anyone have 0-60, 1/4 mile, and skidpad ratings for the GT? And does the GT have a 5-speed or 6-speed?

My source on this information is telling me the base mustang, V6 model, will be starting at 18K and the GT's are going to start at 25K. The convertible GT should be starting at 28K.

They are not published yet, but I drove a pre-production GT and it is very quick.

If this were true....but probably not on the pricing. Then the GT Mustang would rule over the Dodge SRT-4 big time. Real Wheel drive, Normally aspirated engine, cheaper price, MORE HP!!!

My 2005 Mustang V6 + body kit, wing spoiler and stickers will TOTALLY PWN the GT. Oh yeah, for my backlight color, I will choose BMW orange to match the green lighting of my neon kit! PWNAGE!!!

I don't know how much they went up but when my dad bought his 02 GT the base GTs were $19k and his loaded premium was $22,500. I wouldn't be surprised if the 05 is a bit more but these are mustangs and the whole point is they are suppose to be fairly cheap for what you get.

unless they're going to designate a version of the V6 as a GT, I seriously doubt it will be less than $20G. i'm thinking more realistically it is going to be $25k and up. plus the premiums the cars will have when released, will mean that the dealers will mark them up, kinda like when the Evo's came out here.

It's less than 20k now for a non leather, non cd changer GT.... why would they change a proven price scheme???

V6's can be had new for 16k

Quixfire already confirmed pricing on it. They charge more b/c it's a relatively new platform and a brand new car. People wouldn't pay $25K msrp for the current Mustang GT but they will for the new one.
