V6's can be had new for 16k

Quixfire already confirmed pricing on it. They charge more b/c it's a relatively new platform and a brand new car. People wouldn't pay $25K msrp for the current Mustang GT but they will for the new one.

In that case, I'm waiting til '06.

I waiting until next spring, it still will be a 05, but I don't think buying a new RWD car just before winter is a smart thing to especially here in Michigan. ;)

I doubt markup will be a big problem. There maybe some at first but the mustang isn't a low production hard to get car. If one lot has markups there are 300 more Ford lots within 100 miles each with 25+ mustangs on their lot.

I don't think there is much if anything out there using the current mustangs platform and suspension parts. This new one shares parts with lincolns and jags so they may have been able to cut some of the cost out of it. I will be surprised if the base GT is under $20k but I doubt it will be $25k either.

This is the base MSRP. Basically a base V6 Mustang, with a V8 and GT badging.

Looks like I may have to use my corporate discount on a new Ford or Mazda.....

Doing those effects to a Mustang isn't cool. The Civic looks so much better when properly equipped with those "add-ons." ;)

I have never been a fan of mustangs but this new model is rock solid cool!

and at a great price, I wonder if the wifey will let me trade in the kid carriage so we can get a GT!?

I'm thinking I'll keep the kid carrier AND buy a GT! I have a '96 Isuzu with low mileage that's paid for so instead of trading it (it isn't worth jack anyway) I'll kick it to the curb in front of my house and put a new GT in the garage next to the wife's '03 Maxima. Of course, it's going to have to be red...:D

I'd have to agree that if it were going to be under $20k for a GT it'd have to be pretty bone dry as far as options. I seriously don't see how they can do it.

At least the Isuzu runs well and it is reliable...so far anyway. I bought it used from a co-worker for next to nothing and put a small amount of money into it for repairs (tires, shocks, brakes, fixed some oil leaks). I'll probably just keep it if I end up buying a sports car. If I were to buy a new SUV or truck I'd get rid of the zuzu. It only has 72k miles on it now (5k of those I put on it since November) and everything works on it (well, except the cruise control). :D

It would be handy to have when I need the cargo capacity or to throw a surfboard on the roof and go the beach.

yeah the markup should be very low if any. i read somewhere that they are making 180,000 of these the first year (i have no clue its thats even remotely correct, but the point is they are making TONS of them).

these arent by any means limited edition cars so if the dealer tried to rip you off you can remind him of that.

as for 20K for the GT... i agree that its probably for the coupe (18K+). the GT should go from 24K+. if they really hit the showroom floors for 20K, ill be the first one out the door to get one... or two... or maybe three. im more of a truck guy myself but ive always loved mustangs. mustangs are a huge bang for your buck.

When is this sucker coming out? For how nice it looks inside and out Id expect this thing to go for at least 30k. Probably just cheap materials or something.

I went to my ford dealer two weeks ago to ask questions about this car. They were so desperate to sell me an 04 instead, they let me have the pick of the lot for a test drive. I still want the 05 GT so bad though.... seat shifter and wheel are sooooo wrong in the current model.... that's what they get for using such an old platform so long :|

probably not, just a shaker hood and extra HP, like the current mach1. 2004 mach 1 has 45 more HP than the GT, from the old cobra motor.

Mach 1 has the solid rear. It's engine is based off the Cobra with some minor modifications resulting in more torque
