2004 Homecoming

ok guys, i'm going to be honest and just say it's my first homecoming and it's senior year lol. i need to know what i should wear, and what's stuff i should do 🙂 thanks.

Get a date
Wear somethign nice
Eat someplace nice
Have fun

Your school may be different form mine, but nobody wore Tux's to our homecoming.
A nice sweater and khakis was the norm for my school.

Are you going to wear a tux? Tux should be the only way to go. 😎 You should ask you date for a swatch of the material her dress will be made out of so you can find a tie or cumberbund to match. 🙂

Suit (black, navy, brown, gray, whatever). Preferably 100% worsted wool... if you're going to use it for more than just homecoming.

Non-white dress shirt ... blue is pretty standard (but kind of boring imo). Tie that matches your shirt. Nice, matching shoes =p.

Buy your date a corsage (wrist). Eat at some fancy, overpriced, cruddy food restaurant. Spend obnoxious amounts of money on the meal for you and your date.

Arrive at homecoming (preferably not in a limo).

Dance. <-- most important step.

Hang out until 2-6am =p

I was early getting to a friend's place last Saturday so I went to the Benagin's (sp?) down the street for a drink and to watch some of the baseball game...and I saw homecoming groups there. It's by no means an isolated or poor area, so I have no freakin clue what they were thinking.

Take your date to a classy joint but nothing too hoighty toighty...something modern and chic.

Dress-wise, a suit will be fine. For me, homecoming was semi-formal, so it wasn't really a huge deal. That, and I had a g/f soph-senior so I guess I didn't sweat the details

wtf... if you're not going in a tux and your date isn't going in a very lavish ball gown, and you're not renting a limo for the night, there's no point in going at all. My senior year, I spent $600 on the limo alone.

Did she compensate you at all later that night?

lol well i know i'm going to bring a camera for sure, most people do that right?

^-- yep.

why the hell you'd buy "official" homecoming tickets from the school is just ridiculous ... take some group pictures at whatever house you're meeting at, at the dinner, at the dance, etc...

note: don't bring too many valuables, though. normally they don't have coat storage so what happens is coats just get tossed on the side/draped over chairs so .. yeah.

Yes, but probably not the way you mean. She and I, in our PJ's, fell asleep in each other's arms back at the high school trying to stay up through an all-nighter after the formal/prom while watching a movie in the gym with a couple hundred other people. 🙂 I was completely happy.

Yeah, they usually want to make the most of the $600 or so they spent on prom. Getting laid for the first time by a consenting, breathing, female is well worth the $600 though

You must know zero about restaurants then. I feel very satisfied everytime I spend $80+ on a meal for two.

It's not that I know zero about restaurants, its simply that I'm asian =p

Haha .. we can't spend money.

Edit: rather, we'll spend money but then we'll bitch about it later

No, you're just a cheap asian. Many of the members of the Chinese side of my family spend LOTS of money. Same with my gf's family.

See edit =p

I'll admit though, yeah, I don't spend money freely. That and there really arn't many "quality" restuarants out here. At least, popular homecoming ones. You've got .. P.F. Changs (not a big fan), Cheesecake Factory (good, but no reservations), Maggiano's (always booked), Olive Garden (...), etc. ... Pretty standard fare upscale/casual chain restaurants. Wish there were some better choices ..

Edit: Course, I could always go to D.C., but .. laziness. Alright, damnit, you win. I'm a cheap asian -_-. Don't mind splurging here and there if its someone special but for myself .. nope.
