Would a Hemi fit in it?
Edit: 350Z killer? Try Z28.
And the engine isn't a "Chrystler 3.5", it's a "Mercedes 3.2"

[DuffMan]Oh yeah!!!![/DuffMan] 😀
DC is starting to make some nicely styled and hopefully well-engineered cars. For a DD, the Crossfire would rock... Hemi SRT version plz! 😀
And about the Razor coming at advertised price? Wow, that would rock my world. 😀😀😀
Even so, if they can do 250 horses for $14,500 they will sell those things like CRAZY. They might be able to do it.Originally posted by: imprezawrxwagon
well, it will be a project car, for, from what I understand, it will be barebones, - perhaps, not even AC

The Neon SRT-4 uses the same engine and it's less than $20K. It also comes with A/C, CD Player, power doors/windows/locks, keyless entry, alarm etc., not to mention that it's a four-door sedan.
Now look at the Razor. It's smaller and it's only a two-seater. Assuming they use "off-the-shelf" parts for the suspension, tranny, etc. and all the money they'd save by cutting out the convenience features, I think it's actually possible.
Young people would buy them and customize them, and older people might just buy them for a "fun" car considering how cheap they are.

The same engine? The Crossfire uses a Mercedes engine and it's RWD.

Ah, glad to finally see it in production. My best friend worked for Daimler/Chrysler designing this baby. 😀

Good points also. Small cars are generally sold at a loss or a razor-thin profit margin, so driving the price down further may not be that simple. And you're right, they might not want to make one of their best-performing cars also their cheapest, because they would definitely cannibalize some of the sales of their other performance models.Originally posted by: imprezawrxwagon

You do provide good reasoning, however, I doubt that the market niche is large enough to grant reasonable profits with a low profit margin, and I doubt that the company will actually want to sell it at that price, even if they could
we'll just have to wait and see

any inside info? as to expected build quality?
Did you even READ the article? The car is basically a Mercedes SLK (engine, chassis, suspension, brakes, safety equipment, transmission, interior) with a different body and is built in Germany by Karmann.

So the Crossfire will be a crappy car of poor quality?
😉😛
It's basically a Mercedes with a different body. I'd place Mercedes above Audi/VW in reliability/quality (minus interiors).

"I don't remember asking you a g0dd@mn question!" (Pulp Fiction)
Remind me never to ask Edmunds.com about whether or not a vehicle will go into production. Why should you care?
Honestly, you shouldn't. Chrysler is hemorrhaging; money, job and factory cuts are imminent; and there isn't an icicle's chance in Tucson that the Crossfire will be produced. We already know the company can make a competent sports car (witness the 2003 Viper), and nothing about the Crossfire, except for the EVIC, is groundbreaking. So move on to something else, pal.
