"He runs that at an altitude that'd tack an extra second onto your quarter mile, remember that "

Generally that wouldn't apply to a engine with forced induction to the same extent as a normally aspirated one.

sure it would - thin air is thin air, it still impacts any kind of motor greatly

What geno said. LAUST said Lightnings run about the same as his truck (high 14's) and they're supercharged from the factory. Hemi's would run high 15's up there

if you have any mechanical knowhow pop the hood on that so called HEMI that BTW doesn't have hemispherical ports, and tell me how much fun you will have installing that Kenne bell SC on there

Hey LAUST, can you explain propane injection as a power-booster in diesel trucks? I remember watching a segment on "Trucks!" (I love that show!) where the host installed a propane injection kit on a diesel truck for gains of over 100lb/ft at the wheels!! How does that work? Is propane the nitrous of diesel engines?

To add, I don't see any reason to have petrol engines on any full-size truck. What do trucks need? Torque. What do diesel engines have a lot of? Torque. They also get better mileage to boot.

Diesels kick ass!

Read this "big boy", particularly the section about aircraft and altitude, which would also apply to surface vehicles at different altitudes to a lesser extent.

I wish Ford would offer that HD truck with everything it has now, but leave off all the crappy HD badges and junk.

After reading that review, thats something I would buy.....tomorrow

Also you might want to check the ETs from NHRA events at Bandimere compared to ther locations. You'll find that in the supercharged classes, funny car or top fuel, the ETs don't drop as much as non-aspirated, like pro-stock.

That's because they can spin the superchargers faster and play with the fuel mixtures to help compensate for the thin air.

Google a bit more before you come in and try to flame people who know what they're talking about.

A stock supercharged vehicle doesn't have the option of mixing a stronger fuel or changing superchargers....they have to run the same combo that they would at lower altitudes.

Now that Ford is running the Dana 60's int he front of the F250's though and have the new 6.0 DI PS out I'd like to wait a year or 2 for the bugs to work out and see about getting one of them 😉

Might take a lot longer than that. The 6.0's are HORRIBLE right now. Way worse than the 7.3's ever were, and they were also complete crap when first released.

HEY!!! That's my pic!!! 😀

Someone actually BOUGHT that truck and I see it driving around Burlington all the time when I go back there. Some fat old couple has it now and they have two HORNS attached to the leading edge of the hood like a bull!!!

OMG, I need to have my camera out to take a picture of it again!! It's pathetic.

That pictured stayed attached to the windshield for at least a month. I think it finally just blew away.

😀 LMAO! God I wish you could have got the owner's expression after seeing the pic. If anything could have expressed the phrase "WTF" so well...

LOL, guess you didn't know about cars coming with sensors and computers ? And LAUST's truck isn't stock, I'm sure it can be adjusted for different conditions manually if it doesn't do so automatically.

You mean like people who talk about hemispherical ports ? 😉

You need to read up on how engines and computer systems work before you post anymore. No sensor can put more oxygen in the air that is being sucked or pushed into the engine.
The only way is to oxygenate the fuel, or push more of the thin air into the engine.
Stocks, Super Stock, Comp, Pro Stock, etc. are not allowed to do this. Fuel cars are. Therefore, they don't take as much of a performance hit, but they still take a significant one.
As I believe Laust already said, thin air is thin air. A production supercharged vehicle is going to take pretty much the same performance hit as a normally aspirated one does, unless they come out with a way to spin the super/turbo charger faster to make up for the air.
