also, i do NOT like suicide doors. i think they are stupid, i think they look stupid and i thing they are dangerous, tho i'm sure safety features are built in.

Umm, all full-size extended cab pickups have suicide doors...the only ones that have full-size doors are the crew cabs IIRC.

i don't like suicide doors in ANY of the extended cab pickups. i remember that others also had it, but i didn't remember if the ALL had it. 🙁

anyway, if i got a pickup it would HAVE to be a Crew Cab as my wife would never let me buy something i couldn't stow the whole family away it. 🙂

I've had 3 extended cab Fords (2 Rangers and an F-150) and all had suicide doors. They're only half the size of the full door though.

I'd take the F-150 Lightning over any of these trucks. That Lightning is kick-ass fast. No way any Dodge truck could touch the performance of the Lightning...Duh, why do you think they picked the HD F-150 to compare it to?

I owned a Tundra but it is just too small inside for a growing family like mine-I hate those suicide doors also-real PITA to get a baby in and out in a parking spot. I had to get rid of it and get a sporty family sedan (2003 Nissan Maxima SE).

If you want a performance vehicle though it is tough to beat the new Mustang Cobra with 390hp! I'd take that in a convertible and toast all you truck guys. That car is hella fast.

as a "Race Truck" LOL, or as a real truck?

As a real truck in the 1/2 ton market the new F-150 is by far the best out of the box, I still do not approve of the engineering under the hood though.. If I can't work on it myself it's no good 😉

all the GM full size trucks are great under the hood, as is the Ford Super Duty's and if you remove allt eh sheet metal the Tundra is actually decent also 🙂

No comment on the Titan which is pretty much larger than the new F-150 in every dimension and more powerful as well? I mean, it definitely outclasses the Tundra.
Show me one in Denver to go look at and I'll give you a review... I'm not a Paper kiddie that just looks at output numbers, I like to see for myself, Magizene writers as far as I care could not find a hood latch to save their lives, I don't go by their word EVER.

Well, have you checked out the new '04 F-150 and have you ordered one for yourself yet?😛

I'm just glad to see Nissan playing the big arena now...it's just sad to see some people won't give it the time of day b/c it's from a Japanese manufacturer

I can't wait until I can get rid of my 93 Dodge Dakota and buy a Ram quad cab. But that will be many years from now.

well because the BIG areans is DIESEL PERIOD, gas is gay now as of DI 😛

How are you enjoying your big gay truck? 😛

heh, the F150 gets to 100 mph 4 seconds faster than everyone else. That's a pretty sound smoking. The funny thing is, that truck is probably faster than most harley bikes. :Q😀

well since it has 580lbs of torque now it's not so bad (380lbs is not enough, trust me I know from experience), but my longevity and milage isn't even close. and I will be removing the blower and trading up once the dust of the new prices settle.

What kind of mileage are you getting with your Silverado and what do you use all of the power for (besides dusting Z28's😛)?

wtf?

I agree that it is a bunk comparison...

But I like the fact that I could pick up a $21,000 Hemi and have some serious power at my disposal toasting little "sporty cars" left and right 😀

responding to "bunker" nsf4 says "bunk comparison".

very subtle there dude.

They don't. The 04 F150 isn't a performance truck. Not until the 500hp Lightning comes out.

STFU then....when the Lightning comes out we'll talk:beer:

what the fvck are you talking about moron? "STFU"? What part of my above statement do you not understand? The 04 F150 even with the 5.4 isn't close to a performance truck like the Hemi, Silverado SS, or the HD. The only normal 04 F150 that is a performance truck is the Lightning, which for 04 is still the old 380hp supercharged 5.4 model.

15.1 on a reg cab short box is "Serious Power" huh... well if you say so 😛

You might want to go check one out in person, I was disgusted with the way the HEMI was shoehorned into the engine bay, it was also an elecitrcal hurricane of a nightmare under there, there were more wires under that hood then in a network closet, and lets also not forget Dodge's wonderful *snicker* Transmission and drivetrain track record. Good thing they have a 7 year warranty on that drivetrain, I hope you get a sexy service manager at your Dodge dealership 😛

edit: Did I also mention Gas is lame now, with Direct Injection available why get anything but a Diesel in a full size truck.

heh, doesn't your truck run high 14's with a supercharger? 15.1 is not too shabby IMO!
man you're such a Dodge hater.. probably just bitter cause the SS is a freaking piece of crap 😀

According to his website, 14.998 @ 89.74. So 15.1 @ 89.06 from a stock, unmodified Hemi sounds damn good to me😛 Especially compared to the $$$ LAUST had to shell out for the supercharger.

thanx for the update NFS4.. heh
supercharge that HEMI and you got a street beast thats for sure., KENNE BELLE already has one IIRC!

I guess after spending 25 miles behind the wheel of an SS I have to say that it's anything BUT crap. I like creature comforts. It has it in spades. Power heated seats for both driver and passenger, power folding and tilting mirrors. The back bench folds up against the back of the cab making for a large storage area when needed. And the power. It's elusive. You mash the pedal and you don't think you're doing that fast but you look down and you are already doing 60MPH in a 45. Oops 😱 It's just a very refined ride(for a truck) and the interior is very quiet.

I've been in the market for a truck for a while. Mainly because I wanted a bed for making runs to home depot and what not, but didn't want a compact truck. And I didn't want to give up on creature comforts, nor did I want a slouch of a vehicle. The SS threads the needle for in those departments. Very well equipped, quite fast (for a full size truck), and very comfortable to drive. I love the looks as well.

Oh, and the fact that I can pretty much knock 25% off the sticker price doesn't hurt much either. At 40k it's not a deal. At $30,000 though....it's quite a bargain. For what it is.

I wonder what rear end gear Motor Trend had in the Ram they tested ?

I noticed it had a limited slip but I couldn't find the ratio mentioned. Also they had the 20" wheels which look nice
but the stock 17's would be better for quartermile performance most likely.

Just speculating that a stock Hemi Ram might dip into the 14s..

Something else I would agree with Motor Trend about is the handling and ride, my Ram is pretty
sweet for both, although mine differs from Motor Trend's test truck because mine is 4wd and long bed.
