I just got a 2000 lincoln continental (as the title may give away) and want to know what the best mufflers under $100 would be, and where i can get a cold air intake, because I'm not a fan of the stock airbox...

for the mufflers, I was thinking a flowmaster super 40 series

Congratulations on the new car! I hope you enjoy it and that it serves you for a long, problem-free time. Rules number one on modifying your car is this: do it how you like, as long as it won't hurt anybody and is legal. Have a blast!

That said, I think you should be prepared for a bunch of people to swoop in and tell you that cold air intakes are worthless. Now, rule number one says you can do whatever the heck you want, so feel free to disregard what they say. However, you should know that there is truth in what the CAI-skeptics say. I'd recommend this video on the topic. That deals specifically with performance, and it is pretty much common knowledge among car pros by now that CAI's don't improve performance, except sometimes a tiny amount. Pro-CAI folks often enjoy the different induction noise from a CAI, and of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or in this case, the ear of the listener. So know that a CAI is not likely to make your car faster at all, but that it will probably make the intake louder. Whether you like that or not is up to you.

Truthfully, exhaust mods on a stock engine are often the same story. The reason is that with many engines, the exhaust is not the limiting factor on making power. You may see some improvement, but likely not much. Again, noise enjoyment is probably the biggest difference here, and is also completely subjective.

So, whatever you do, enjoy! Just please be patient with the folks who will come in and hate on you for your interest in a CAI and exhaust, your car choice, favorite color, or whatever else. Enjoy your car and whatever mods you do to it!

thanks, that video was helpful. I only wanted the cold air intake for a performance increase, but i guess that won't help... The mufflers were just for the sound XD

thanks, this should be really helpful for my car!
I like the LS as well, but how could I pass up a perfect condition continental with 80k miles for $2800?
No worries, hope the Conti sub-forum is as helpful as the LS one, hence :)

continentals and their tranny problems, did you forget to change the fluid every 15k miles? nonetheless, a decent repair can go up to $300 depending how bad the problem is, because these tranny's are super easy to repair. But, they are also expensive, so buying a new one and getting it installed can cost up to $3000... see if you can just get it rebuilt
