That said, I think you should be prepared for a bunch of people to swoop in and tell you that cold air intakes are worthless. Now, rule number one says you can do whatever the heck you want, so feel free to disregard what they say. However, you should know that there is truth in what the CAI-skeptics say. I'd recommend
this video on the topic. That deals specifically with performance, and it is pretty much common knowledge among car pros by now that CAI's don't improve performance, except sometimes a tiny amount. Pro-CAI folks often enjoy the different induction noise from a CAI, and of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or in this case, the ear of the listener. So know that a CAI is not likely to make your car faster at all, but that it will probably make the intake louder. Whether you like that or not is up to you.
Truthfully, exhaust mods on a stock engine are often the same story. The reason is that with many engines, the exhaust is not the limiting factor on making power. You may see some improvement, but likely not much. Again, noise enjoyment is probably the biggest difference here, and is also completely subjective.
So, whatever you do, enjoy! Just please be patient with the folks who will come in and hate on you for your interest in a CAI and exhaust, your car choice, favorite color, or whatever else. Enjoy your car and whatever mods you do to it!
