I could belive that. I work at, well, lets just call it a gambling establishment. I was just told that one of the refugees just showed up with their FEMA card and was attempting to get money from the ATM to gamble with.

They are going to blow it on crap. Like they have done with all their money for their entire lives. They are poor and continue to stay poor for very good reasons.

If you've read any of my other posts, I'm as apathetic about poor people as anyone. However, even I have to question the credibility of this post. Could it be true? Absolutely. But I still would like to hear it from a more reliable source than someone's blog before forming any rash opinions.
To answer the OP, I'll fall in line with everyone else -- with only $2000, obviously necessities are first priority: food, clothes, water, shelter.

not everyone gets $2 grand, depends on how many kids you have. say ya have no kids, you would get around $320, not a lot to start your life over. they should give these poor folks $50 grand, we can spend a million dollars on a missle that we shoot into a mountain, i'm sure the govt can afford to give more.
$50,000? So if you were renting a $300 a month apartment, owned no car, you should get $50,000 grand for being displaced?
I only read that $2000 debit cards were being given out, and it was 1 per household.
