According to David Edelstein these are the 20 worst twist endings. I haven't seem many of them, but definitely agree with The Village.

1. The Life of David Gale
2. The Game
3. Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton version)
4. Basic
5. The Woman in the Window (Fritz Lang)
6. Suspicion (Hitchcock)
7. No Way Out
8. The Village
9. Fight Club
10. The Forgotten
11. Secret Window
12. The Usual Suspects
13. Reindeer Games
14. Never Talk to Strangers
15. Man on Fire
16. I Bury the Living
17. The Contender
18. Swimming Pool
19. The Stepford Wives (remake)
20. The Upside of Anger

100% agreed. Just saw it for like the 10th time on FX today. I really liked that twist.

I agree. His complaint in the article is the whole scheme to set these guys up is a bit over the top. Not exactly relevant, but that's the critique he included.

I think Wild Things could be on that list.

It's not just about the twist, but how you lead up to it.

Fight Club, The Usual Suspects and The Game shouldn't be on that list.

Of the ones I've seen:

2. The Game - This was indeed a frustrating end, because I liked the movie, and the end made me feel I'd wasted my time.

3. Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton version) - This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and the moronic ending wasn't even internally coherent. This would have topped my list.

7. No Way Out - This was the first one I thought of when I read the title. I didn't mind the ending as much on the second viewing, though.

9. Fight Club - This doesn't belong here, because it was a smart twist ending to a great movie.

10. The Forgotten - The ending was not really any dumber than the rest of this crappy movie.

11. Secret Window - I thought this was a decent twist ending, actually.

12. The Usual Suspects - Again, I thought this was a great movie with a decent ending.

13. Reindeer Games - C'mon - who cares about the end of a crappy Ben Affleck vehicle?

15. Man on Fire - I wouldn't call this a twist. It was gloomy, though.

17. The Contender - Decent movie, decent ending IMO

Usual Suspects as others have already pointed out.
Fight Club? WTF?!?!?! As others have already pointed out.
Man on Fire, although I agree it was not the ending that I would have liked to have seen, it was an ending which fit the movie.

The Usual Suspects shouldn't be on that list. Even if you had the movie figured out before the ending, it still kicks ass thanks to some great cinematography. Hell, it still sends shivers up my back when I see the last minute of the film.

I just saw Man on Fire over spring break... I guess I must've missed the "twist" at the end.

The game was pretty good for me. it still surprised with a title like that.

Btw, can someone explain fight club for me? I fell asleep trying to get past the beginning. What's its big surprise and appeal?
