I just picked up a Sceptre 20" widescreen tonight from Costco (for $379). I'm not sure how I ever lived without this before...it looks like it's always belonged on my desktop.

-=bmacd=-

edit: went from using an IBM P70 17" CRT for the last ~7 years.

Damn I want a flatscreen but I cannot get one until I can justify a 24" widescreen flat panel to replace the 24" widescreen CRT I have now.....I just can't go smaller after using this thing for a couple of years.

I just got my Dell 2005 FPW for $334 yesterday :)

I was up until 4:00 am last night because I couldn't bring myself to look away from it's beauty :(

Nope! I'm running it at 1680x1050, but it supports a bunch of lower resolutions if your video card can't handle it.

Does it be ghosting?

And most video cards can run at 1680x1050... don't know how many can game at that res though.

a 24" flat panel has 24" viewable. i'm pretty sure a 24" CRT has less viewable area.

A widescreen CRT? Unless it's a TV, that's wierd.

And yeah, LCDs are about 2"-3" bigger than a CRT marked as the same size.

You're agreeing with him... he doesn't want to get anything smaller than a 24" widescreen flat panel, but can't justify the price of a 24" widescreen flat panel right now.

lol, it's 1"
a 19" CRT is 18" viewable (likewise 21"crt=20"viewable etc.) a 17" lcd is 17" viewable.

24" LCDs are infact larger when it comes to viewable area than a 24" CRT...

I bought a 2405fpw about 3 weeks ago. Looks great. I know run dual monitor with my 23" lcd :D. That one cost 3.5x as much!!! BUT I have had 3 solid years of usage out of it before this dell and their isn't a back light issue at all. The back light on the Dell on a black screen isn't 'completely' even like my 23" Sony one but it was 3.5x as much though.

Widescreens are the way forward.

still runs great. There really wasn't a need for me to replace it, I just wanted an LCD because I banked a little OT money.

How bright is it? My Dell 2005FPW was so bright that it gave me a headache and I almost returned it. After a few days I got used to it and love it now.

Any dead pixels?
