Jar of Honey: $5
Getting naked, smearing it all over yourselves: $0
Rolling around in the ant hill until you are eaten alive: $0

= $5

WTF the casket for my grand mother funeral alone cost 10,000. That doesn't inlcude the price of the giant stop block that goes on top the casket which I beleive was around $20,000. Next comes the cost of the land which wasn't cheap either. Her funeral was around $120,000. My god $5000 seems so cheap and tacky.

You people obviously dont know anything about getting rid of bodies. If you're gonna burn them with gas, it's gonna take more than 20 gallons considering the bones arent easy to turn to ashes. Cremation chambers are extremely high temperatures and the body must stay in there for about 2-3 hours before it's reduced to ash.

Amateurs.

$120,000 is not over the top. It shows love, and honor by having a nice funeral.

It is not moronic, it is loving.

I don't remember gold on the castket, but the giant stone tablet which I think was marble but it could have been something else had a really nice polished carving on it. It looked really nice. You shouldn't be cheap when it comes to funerals.

The average cost of a funeral is $7-10K. I find it incredibly hard to believe 120K was spent on your grandfathers funeral. So hard to believe that I could easily call shens on this.

I dont get it. I think of my extended family as being mostly poor, low income familes and we were able to afford this. I don't get why people want to be cheap for funerals.

your def of love and mine differ apperently
my grandfather had it in his will that he wanted to be creamated so thats what we did, didnt cost much, both my prents also want to be creamated and they dont even want a funeral where people show up and such, my mother is catholic, or was she now despises what the chirch has become and wants nothing to with with the way they have funerals, so we will cremate her had spread her ashes at out summer place liek we did with my grandad,

spending a HUGE amount of money on somenthing != love

Probably because you don't know where the money came from or how much was spent. Most likely your grandfather had a good amount of holdings and a very nice life insurance policy.
Either way, his funeral wasn't a $120,000 ordeal. Shens.

Rock stars and celebrities have funerals that push up into the 6 figure area.

LOL, wow. You are incredibly materialistic. I guess that explains why rich families are always more loving and better people than poor families

Say you don't need no diamond ring and I'll be satisfied
Tell me that you want the kind of thing that money just can't buy
I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

Actually the funeral was paid by my grandmother sons, daughter, and some grand children. There was 12 people who piched in to pay, 2 people paid 20,000 and the rest of the cost was divided by the other 10.

There was only the standards this funeral.

A casket for $10000
A stone table with carving for $20,000
A 10 feet by 10 feet marble floor that went around the stone tablet and casket
4 10 feet tall stone pillars with carvings
A roof on top of the pillars with carvings.
The funeral service lasted for 14 days

All in all it was a nice funeral and not over the top.

14 days are you kidding me? sh!t all the funerals that I have been to last all of like 6 hours and thats allready way to long

casket 3-5K
place in a mosoleum (sp) 1-2K
renting the funeral parlor like 1500$

total 5.5-10K and thats the AVERAGE for funerals in the US

and thats exactly how much it cost to bury one of my relatives

Most families can't throw six figures around, even with a lot of people chipping in.
