This is highly disturbing.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (PIX11) — Two police officers sitting in their car in Brooklyn have been shot.

The shooting happened just before 3 p.m., Saturday at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Tompkins Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Brooklyn Council member Robert Cornegy tells PIX11 that the officers were sitting in their car eating lunch when the suspect came up to the car and shot them.

That's a damned shame and absolute tragedy. I hope they catch the monsters responsible and move them toward justice. Bring back the death penalty New York!

Sad state of affairs. Hopefully 2nd officer will survive. Fair winds and following seas to the fallen officer.

The media and those who put forth narratives based on lies should be proud of this result. I'm sure they'll poo poo it away just like the looting and burning that's done in protest based on their false narratives.

Suspect is reportedly dead. Suicide by the sounds of it. Comments made on his alleged Instagram account point to a targeted attack.

So Londo Jowo's initial thought wasn't far off the mark after all.

Two guys eating lunch, now their families without a dad/father/son.

Let's wait until we have all the evidence. Maybe the officer threaten to kill the man and he acted in self defence.

The media didn't kill these officers, just like an evil gun didn't kill these officers. A murderous POS did. I understand your comment as it applies to MB but EG? What lies did the "media" put forth? People were able to generate their own opinions bases on the video. I'm sure if you were a black man you'd feel completely different about the worsening relations between black men and LEOs the past umpteen years. It certainly doesn't justify or excuse his actions but you have never looked out of the eyes of a black person nor walked a mile in one's shoes.

RIP

With what is happening around the country right now, I'm very surprised that this isn't much more common. In fact, I've wondered why it is not. You have these 17, 18 year old gangbangers who think nothing of killing each other and the consequences that follow their actions. Why aren't they killing cops by the hundreds?

If this is a police assassination in response to police having a license and using it to kill innocent people, than it's so damn sad there are assholes out there who have no faith that the system can't be righted by the good will of better people. People always create what they fear by punishing the police and creating terror of common citizens that can best be dealt with by the illogic of more and more police brutality, Those killers are infected by the very mentality they hate. Poor sick bastards. But by acceptance of police injustice, we create people who think that way. Can we please learn to see that violence begets violence..... endlessly.....

Good question.

I know it's supposed to be a sad story, but I don't feel a thing.

You should! The answer to out of control and unaccountable police is justice, not more murder. Cops should be held accountable for their actions and it is a tragedy that currently they are not. That in no way justifies what appears to be a cold blooded murder.

Why not have the empathy for these victims that the defenders of recent police behavior seem to so conspicuously lack for victims of police violence?

The fact that he killed himself afterwards, allegedly, makes me want to wait for more info.

Going to suck to be a Black non-White male in NYC for quite some time now. I imagine this one incident will bring back 80's and 90's tensions back into the NYC area.

Insanity.

Sensationalism affects those strongest with weakest mind/body/souls. Media is absolutely a factor in creating a monster in his brain. There is absolutely zero need for such sensationalism, all it does is gets people riled up. Get someone mentally ill, it doesn't take much to push them over a cliff.

If he committed suicide then it sounds like he had some other issues other than just hating cops.

It sucks for all of those involved or affected.

This only highlights that things need to change. This could have easily been about two cops who routinely patrolled a city looking for people to help and who bacame mentors to the troubled youth they protected. It could have been about a troubled man, struggling to make it, whose life seemed like it was over and no where to turn but because he grew up with police officers protecting him, mentoring him, they were able to see his struggle and they were able to help and talk him down that ledge. This story could have ended with two hero cops just doing what they normally do, protecting the people they serve, even if it's protecting the people from themselves. It could have been about a black man who struggled through life who reached some dark days only to be shown the light by two officers who were willing to make a difference and reached out to the troubled man.

Instead we have someone seeking justice in world that seems unfair and two cops are dead and no justice will be given but the cycle will continue with nothing changing except perceptions becoming even more engrained.

Policing is more than just issuing tickets and arresting law breakers, it's about building trust and relationships that make everyone feel safe and secure.

It's tragic but not surprising, sadly.

Damn shame it had to come to this. The shooter killed himself.
