Hey Aigo, I am wondering why you have an slower graphics sub-system for your faster quad? Last time I checked 8800GT SLIs > HD3870s in X-fire?

simple.

Intel Chipset > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> > x (infinity cubed) then ANY Nvidia crapastic chipset in overclocking.

also, X-fire > SLI in dual monitor setups. Ummm better way to say it is:
Xfire: yes to dual monitors and yes xfire works on both.
SLI: Lacking and non existant dual monitor support.

I kinda grew dependant on these now for both work and play:

Freya is connected to a 42 inch LCD TV. Single monitor setup, so SLI = Winner!
Freya is also a HTPC Open AIR Bench system.
Im currently playing with passives on it.
IFX-14 is pretty darn impressive.
I dont recomend it tho, unless you have a horiztonal mount platform.
The torque on the sink would gaurentee you not to have good and even core temps.

Is the non-workable dual monitors for SLI a hardware or a driver issue for NV? Have you heard if there were any plans to have this issue resolved with GTX series?

i have no idea.

I first jumped on nvidia's SLI on the 6600GT's to give SLI a shot again. But since the 6600GT days, Nvidia's solution to dual monitors was grab a third non nvidia video card. This usualyl worked, however your directx and openGL was fubared on that third card.

This problem exsisted all the way to my 8800GT.

Xfire has no issue with dual monitors.
You cant activate a third monitor however, because xfire wont let you connect any monitors to the second card.
However, Xfire is kinda buggy. Its not as stable as SLI.

Anyhow it doesnt matter anymore, if unless nvidia decides to say OK to intel getting SLI technology, i dont think we'll be seeing SLI For Neha.

If i had to pick a uber fast clocked neha with ATI gfx vs *putting erinyes on sleep* a craptasic stupid phenom, *waking her up again* with uber SLI.

no, the intel system wins hands down. And no its not by a small margin either.

It is software. You can run two cards individually and power two seperate monitors but once SLI is enabled only one port(I think the top card) will provide a signal.
