you are such a moron, a doctor will not be treating me for either of those conditions when a life threatening trauma case rolls in. god you are dumb.

oh but he will be since it was an 'aneurysm'

I wasn't one to decide...I am one to call it out when it's raping the system that was put in place.

Back pain again is Urgent Care and if during the day, walk in to your primary care.

You are confusing your belief that you are entitled to immediate response because someone else is paying the bill to what the system is intended to cover.

yea she had the full attention of the er docs until they ruled it a really bad migraine,

urgent care is out of network. my doc does not take walk-ins and i do not know any PC's who do they tell you to go to the ER if it cant wait.

not immediate response just a response when its needed and remember i pay for the insurance and will use it if i have to.

going into the ER because of a cold is ass raping the system and the people who do that generally don't have insurance anyway. I have insurance and i have no problems using my benefits i pay for.

Your primary care physician is obviously not looking out for you, this some 'clinic' or something?

It's bizarre your insurance doesn't cover urgent care. PC's tell you to go to the ER if you can't wait because 1) they aren't paying 2) you probably would sue them otherwise.

Your insurance is just that insurance, not free medical care everyday.

some are. Either way doesn't change the fact that most here did not have true emergencies.

If my stomach was killing me I'd probably go in. Perhaps you couldn't have known if it was a real emergency or not. You got gouged anyway. I agree that the excuse people use about healthcare causing all the bankruptcies is not entirely accurate. Many people in the US are willfully (meaning they could pay) underinsured or noninsured. I wonder how many who cannot afford insurance can afford to drive cars that are worth more than mine. The point is if you're terrible with money and have poor or no insurance because of it, and not just because your income is low but because you're an idiot who spends it on other things, well when you have a medical event of course it's going to suck financially. This is applicable to a lot of cases. I have no idea what percentage.

well, after much nagging from the old lady i went to the ER because I had very intense stomach pains. They kept me in an ER space, not even a room, for 2 hours. doctor came by and asked a few questions. got an IV and was told to just take it easy.

got a $1200 bill just for that :| i knew i shouldve just stayed home and drank salt water.........FML

Thats the problem with our nation's health care today. They don't advertise prices before hand, so in essence, you're handing them a blank check.

Maybe you shouldn't go to the ER for a stomach ache. OP said it himself. If everyone with a tummy ache or a sore throat went to the ER we'd have some pretty long lines.

couldve been his appendix.

true, but some people (the 60 million or so? without healthcare) have little other choice.

Urgent care clinics are inexpensive. Many of the people without the insurance choose to not purchase it. Maybe they can trade the plasma TV or sports car for health care.
