2.49 for gas "Wow", in NY

Exxon of all gas stations had regular for $2.89 that about 0.20cents cheaper that all other local gas stations.

Intead of prices going up because of the 8% Alaska reduction, prices seem to be going down.

This made my day.

Update:
Sunoco in Oceanside, NY has regular for $2.49 and Premium for $2.79.
Exxon about half mile down has it for $2.59 down from $2.77 yesterday.

Theres a few stations on the border of Kentucky that dropped about 20 cents here. Was very happy to see that yesterday.

Couple of reasons.

1) BP announced that they weren't going to lose all the capacity from the Alaskan oil field..just about half.

2) OPEC said they would make up for the rest.

3) Summer is ending and kids are going back to school so demand is going down.

Unfortunately State to State comparisons don't mean much.
I know that I can drive to NJ and get under $3 gas. But in NY Under $3 well I havent seen that in almost a year.

Oh I forgot I also did see BJ's Wholesale selling gas for 3.03 in Freeport NY. Still the average around the area was about 3.07-3.15

Heh, that just tells you which states have the higher taxes on gas.

There is a cheap little place in a city right outside of boston that is only 2.88 a gallon and sadly i am happy about that. God i wish the days of 92cents a gallon came back.

That deserves a "wow". Prices have been hovering around $3.30+ here in Staten Island. NJ used to be pretty cheap on gas. That is until owners got smarter (or greedier, whatever) and started raising prices for stations near New York. You'd have to drive in deeper to find cheaper prices.

Cheapest gas i can find in NJ is 2.81... *whats up with all these Delta's multiplying like wallyworlds?

My question which I really do not get is how does summer demand drive prices up? As a rat race commuter, i've noticed that traffic on major highways is significantly lower than in the other months im guessing with most people on vacation or home. Most college kids are not commuting to school and there are very few school buses roaming.
