2-1-1-5 timings anyone doing it ??

That's because the nForce2 motherboards get better memory bandwidth at 11-2-2-2 than at 6-2-2-2 for example.

AFAIK it's just a quirk in the chipset.

nope. the actual statement from some memory company (might be Mushkin) said that it (a low tRAS) was like someone closing the cover on a book before you had finished reading it, thus making you (the memory module) start over from scratch.
