I agree about the price. Way too high. Not worth it. However, some of us wanting more memory cannot simply go with the 260/280 or 4870x2 because of space and/or psu restraints. My only really viable options are a 4850, 4870, or 4870 1gb. All of the equivalent nV offers are too long to fit in my case at the moment. A future build is likely, but I don't think I can wait 3-6 months for a new GPU. Looks like I might just settle with the 512mb 4870 if the price of the 1gb doesn't drop fast. I think for 19x12 with 4xAA is going to be ok with most games. Though I am keeping an eye on apoppin's recent research.

i love your "solution" - i.e. "you don't need it"Originally posted by: deerhunter716
In his testing he states: "You state: "the games that i most noticed the hitching was in Crysis [of course =P] and ET-QW - especially "outskirts" and "salvage" benches. They are played with the most maxed maxed out highest quality settings and at 4xAA/16xAF and at 19x12 [and 16x10] resolutions. "......
If you are playing at 1920x1200 I do not see the need for 4xAA/16xAF at all period; thus the 512MB card handles that resolution with absolutely no issues at all period. Waste of $$$ on the extra 512 MB.
