At any rate, since they're highway miles they're not really that bad for the car...as someone else in the car thread pointed out, he only went through one set of brake pads so it was mostly just cruising-no stop and go or anything. I'm sure when you drive that much you probably just end up setting cruise control and chilling.
Still, just the sheer number is quite impressive nonetheless...I don't really think I'd have much qualms buying the car at the right price though, since highway miles are very consistent and hardly run the engine at high RPM. Also, there's almost NO shifting involved in highway driving...city driving needs the transmission to shift up and down constantly, while cruising is largely in overdrive...and sometimes you might shift down one gear to pass.
So anyways, I guess my point is that 317 isn't neccessarily all that hard to achieve if all you're doing is highway miles.
