What do you guys think of this car? I just sold my car so I found this one locally. Original owner, 86k miles and all stock. All maintenance records.

Wanted 4500, got it down to 4000

Garaged in Winters, two small surface rust spots (quarter and dime sized)

5 speed, si.

Very nice. Fun little cars and not all that common. As a matter of fact I probably see more S2Ks than the Del Sols. Finding one with 86k miles, non-riced, 5-speed, it's a great find.

I'm sure you know it's not the most practical thing on the road, or the most safe, but I think it's cool.

Oh, and for the love of god, don't rice it 😀

What! I was gonna lower the car, borla exhaust. Maybe even a K&N filter 😉

....HELL no i will not mod this. I'm going to keep it stock (other than the radio). I will hopefully have the only non modified del sol on the market and it'll be worth a lot more

I giggled

Now a few dollars in quality tires and maybe having someone look at the suspension and grease it may be worth it. Additionally I would at least uncork the intake to get some of the wail back into the engine.

If you have to do ANY work on the car replace the original parts with something like the above and you will see improvement in your ride.

FYI dont bother with any chips or other retarded shit you see on ebay..

Enjoy!

Low blow.

Kbb doesn't take in account the Honda tax. Check nada.

$4000 is what I paid for my old beater, a 1999 honda civic with 90k miles, but that was 6 years ago and during the first big gas price spike which inflated the price of small used cars. $4000 today for a 93 del sol is kind of crazy unless it was in mint condition or something.

I just sold my 97 civic for 3100 with 180xxx miles and a rust spot that went all the way through. I'm sure I could've gotten more.

to futher back up my purchase haha

Yeah used car prices are insane right now. That said, that Honda is from the golden age of Honda/Toyota, I would call it the '87-'97 era where they made just amazing stuff as far as fit/finish/longevity. It's a shame they kinda slid away from that peak, but that's another discussion altogether.

If the thing drives nice, starts right up, that's kind of a bargain for something as low as 80k miles, it looks in better condition than many cars 10 news newer. Treat it right, and it's the kind of car that will reach 200k on the original drivetrain with basically nothing other than minimal maintenance (oil/filters/tires/timing belt/water pump), and possibly a couple of random things here and there like all cars.

$4000 i can see for a VTEC model not a SI

I do know the front ends of these are odd-balls. A little harder to find if you ever crash or have rust issues.

I think they are pretty neat little cars if you had the T-tops. But in my mind they are worth $2000 just like any honda that was made in 93.

Yeah, confusing.

Fwiw, the 'Si' has Vtec, but it's the SOHC Vtec motor, D16Z, rather than the DOHC B16 that has notably higher HP (not much more torque though).

2,300lbs though 🙂 ~130hp isn't world-beating, but it's enough to be plenty peppy. Could always drop a B18C in there later, but to do it right you'd need to do some chassis reinforcement, larger brakes, larger wheels, better suspension, turbo+intercool, etc 🙂 Would be cool if completely stock on the outside, but of course still a waste of money dumping that much into FF.

^ when i speak of honda and vtec i refer to B series DOHC.

Yea we got D16y8 and w/e else is there, they all are vtec engines but not the ones that made them popular. The H-series is kinda in limbo for me.

I've only seen about 5-6 REAL VTEC models from the factory around here.

Well, the pics do show it in good shape FWIW.

People are so fvcked. That is just stupid beyond. Not that I blame you, if I could get some dolt to pay that for a 14 year old civic with that many miles I would, too! Honda tax, as mentioned above, it makes people go crazy.
