I needed a car fast, with school and work coming up, I was lucky to find this car.

Anyways I did a quick search at columbus.craigslist.org for a miata and many are priced higher with more mileage :/

Getting the timing belt and other belts replaced Thursday. Probably a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff as well. Car has an issue where if I say stall the clutch or sometimes try to start the car after a warm start, it will hesitate to start. It'll crank and crank and crank and eventually it'll go. Mechanic thinks distributor cap so we'll see.

For good measure check the plugs/wires too :D

That, oil, filters, really not too much to keeping one of those suckers in top shape.

Love it.. That thing is so clean.
There is a guy on BITOG that has a 91 CRX SI with 30K on it. It is so awesome to see a perfectly mint (literally like new) rare rare SI. Keepin 'em alive!

Thanks! Finally a nice reply :D

Anyways few updates about the car:

Got the timing belt, water pump, plugs and wires, dist.cap and all the belts replaced. New fluids. I greased the weather stripping seals, that stopped all the leaks. The trunk leaks but i found out online its just two clips that I need to replace. Otherwise the car drives perfect...

o and if I do stall, the car will sometimes refuse to start unless I wait like 2 minutes argh! Sometimes its really hard to find where the clutch will engage because I swear it changes! Or i'm just a bad manual driver. Is it normal for the clutch to be soft and the engage point is very small and on the edge of release the clutch pedal?
When I drove either the tiburon or the focus, the clutch if i remember was very easy to use. The del sol just seems a little more difficult

Probably having the A/C on messes me up since then I have to give the car more gas = power.

for that sucker id check the filter first, then pull it and get the fuel pump pressure tested. i had a similar issue with my civic and while the pump was pushing fuel, it was only pumping up to 10 and 12 psi after it all warmed up. it finally failed, the pressure didnt go away, just dropped to about 8psi. when i replaced everything else and was starting to think it was something in the engine, i read that it was supposed to push 45psi. changed the pump and problem went away.

just as an aside, i see relays fail when its hot a lot. my ex wifes chevy truck has a bad starter relay, but only when it got hot. in AZ its not too difficult to get that to happen, and the problem went away with a new relay. it would only start sporadically, it wasnt a complete fail. also, in the evening it would start every time.

edit: my 98 civic is dead stock as well. i prefer it that way, i even keep the steelie rims on it.

Yeah me too, all stock :D

And the car has no problem doing a cold start, it starts every time. It also idles pretty well too. Just if I stall the car, it goes into dead mode

If I were OP I would change the FF first, a rely either engages or it doesn't..

So my car did its thing again. This time I was coming out of Lowes, started the car, started right up then died. Tried to start again, starter would turn but the engine wouldn't start : /

I didn't hear that usually 'click' when i turned the ignition on. That sound that comes from the rear, guessing fuel pump priming?

Anyways what do you think I should do? Eventually I heard a click noise from under the dash and it started! No idea, and yes I know click is very vague.

Researching online, people are saying it might be a burned out ecu, or failing ecu. Ouch! :( I recently fixed the drive side window leak so I dont have doubts the ECU could have collected moisture

Time for some basic troubleshooting, you will need a voltmeter to determine if the pump is getting power when this happens, then start working backwards, (check relay, connectors). Hopefully you can find parts at a pick a part to save $$, at least those model years typically don't require a module to be programmed to a specific vehicle, if my BCM (body control module) goes out any replacement has to programmed to work. Buy a Chilton's or Haynes manual for the car well worth the $10-15 IMO..

i thought the 92-95 civic/ del sols were obd1, and located on the passenger side, under the dash? could be an ECU, but if youre getting starter turn and no start, could be fuel delivery. check the pressure at the filter, pull the pump and visually check it. make sure the tube is intact, maybe start it up on a bench and check the motor itself. doesnt take much to pull those suckers, and replacement is pretty cheap.

i would definitely start under the hood with spark and fuel testing.
